Water, Earth & Fire Offerings

To be used in cultivating a reciprocal relationship with place, giving something back to the ground, the water and the flame.

🔥 Fire
Calendula, orange peel and rosemary. Offered a pinch at a time to a fire pit for ancestral connection & release rituals.

🌊Water

Rose, calendula and lavender. Given to rivers, lakes and the sea for grief & prayer work.

🌎Earth

Rose, chamomile and calendula. Scattered thinly at sacred sites, at gravestones, at thresholds and at the feet of trees. A biodegradable alternative to prayer flags and ties.

Cow asks you to be gentle. To let yourself be nourished as well as to do the nourishing, which is often the harder part.

She is slow, she doesn’t rush her giving.

There is a largeness to her, a room inside her, and this drum carries some of that room. It can hold a great deal without spilling over.

Where cow roots you down into the body and the belly, ash carries you up and out into the wider weave, into the one energy that moves through all living things.

Between the two of them this drum keeps a foot in the earth and a hand in the stars.

For cleansing work, moving smoke over a person or through a room.

The feathers are long and broad, so the air moves with precision. Handle wrapped & made by hand.

Cow hide on a 20 inch Willow hoop

A drum of fierce protection and Spirit connection.

As I was birthing this drum, its name became clear to me. Ice.

They showed me how spiritual protection is like a layer of thick ice, blocking anything that is not needed while still letting the light shine through. This one holds the medicine deeply. They showed me too how the drum can be used as a spiritual shield during journey and spirit work. Rawhide is strong, and has been stretched over shields in times past.

This drum carries the medicine of Isa, the ice rune.

Isa is a single upright line, still and unbending. It’s the ice on the water, the great stilling that stops all motion and lays everything bare. Where the water was churning and clouded, ice holds it still, and in that stillness the murk sinks and the seeing clears.

It is the protection of standing still and knowing yourself, clear and cold and unmoved, so that what is not yours cannot get a hold on you.

Isa sharpens the instinct and hones the discernment, the knowing of what to let in and what to turn away at the door. It teaches the hardest of the openings, the one where you stay soft enough to receive and clear enough to refuse, holding close both at once.

To open and to remain protected is the whole of its teaching.

The smoke went straight up the second I lit it, then curled back on itself and hung there.

That’s the whole thing, really. Calling back all the parts of ourselves scattered in other people, in places we don’t live anymore, in the futures we planned that never came and the pasts we keep walking back into. A little of you stays wherever you leave it. This is the work going and fetching it home.

I couldn’t wait, so the workshop got cleansed there and then, and with our own incense too, which is finally live on the shop after all this time of saying “soon”.
