ADVANCED CARE IN ACTION ❤️💛
Last Sunday was a busy one for the PACT team, providing medical cover for the Worcester Run, including the 10K, half marathon and junior races.
This was a large-scale operation, with more than 20 members of staff deployed alongside ambulances, a medical centre and consultant-led clinical provision.
The weather certainly added to the challenge, with a combination of heat, rain and high humidity creating something of a “run in the jungle” feel! 🌧️☀️🌿
These conditions changed the dynamics of the medical presentations, and our teams were prepared to adapt as the event progressed.
Our clinicians managed a wide range of presentations, with our critical care team deployed to multiple incidents. Some patients required advanced interventions, including active cooling, sedation and critical care transfer for further assessment and treatment.
We were particularly pleased to receive fantastic feedback from the receiving acute trust following the event, with our team’s clinical care, professionalism and quality of service specifically praised.
Events like this demonstrate why preparation matters. Our planning and training are designed around the reality that event medicine can change quickly — and that the whole operation needs to work together, from control room and operational leadership through to the medical centre, response teams, ambulances and critical care clinicians.
It was another busy event and another fantastic team effort from PACT. ❤️💛

We’ve shared a more detailed reflection on the event over on LinkedIn, looking at how we prepare for changing clinical demands, the impact of weather on event medicine and how we continue to learn from every deployment.
