Those thermometer 🌡️ readings are going up, up up! 🥵🔥
The sunshine may be welcome, but hot weather can take a toll on your eyes too.
👁️ Dry, irritated eyes – Heat, sun and air conditioning can cause tears to evaporate more quickly, leading to discomfort, redness and blurry vision.
🕶️ UV damage – Just like your skin, your eyes can be harmed by UV rays. Long-term exposure increases the risk of conditions such as cataracts and other eye health problems.
💧 Stay hydrated – Drinking plenty of water helps your body produce healthy tears and keeps your eyes feeling comfortable.
😎 Wear quality sunglasses – Choose sunglasses that offer 100% UVA and UVB protection, even on cloudy days. Cheap glasses often do NOT protect sufficiently!
👓 Contact lens wearers – Hot weather can make lenses feel drier and less comfortable. Use lubricating drops if recommended by your optician and follow good lens hygiene.
