Sleep is so annoying when you’re absolutely exhausted… you’ve had your dinner, watched the next episode of Rivals (which you drop off in half way through and will have to watch again tomorrow)… so you go to bed.

Then BAM!! Your brain decides now is the perfect time to go through everything.

The messages you forgot to reply to.
The thing you said three years ago.
Tomorrow’s list.
A random worry that wasn’t even there five minutes ago.

Even though we feel really tired, we can sometimes find it hard to properly relax.

When we start to sleep, we slowly move through different brainwave states to get there. If our brains are stuck in high alert Beta mode, and have been for a while - relaxing and slowing our minds down can be hard. OR - we conk out as soon as our heads hit the pillow.

Neither of these are good for us long term.

The most important part of sleep is the bit in between wakefulness and being fully asleep. It is when we are in this state that our brains and bodies can repair themselves from the stresses of the day. If we can’t get there, we feel more stressed, more tired.. and the loop continues.

I know this - I have been there!

Sound is really good at helping our brains to slow down, and get in to that relaxed meditative state which is really important for us. It gives our systems something steady to follow, so things can start to soften a bit.

If you need some help with sleep, why not give a sound session a try.

I thought it was probably about time I introduced myself...

A few years ago, if you'd told me I'd be running a sound therapy studio, I wouldn't have believed you.

My career was in a completely different world. I spent years managing large marketing projects with big budgets, and I genuinely loved it. It was creative, fast-paced and incredibly rewarding. But at the time, I thought the stress just came with the job. Looking back, I don't think I realised quite how much it was taking out of me.

After losing my mum, I found myself looking at everything differently. I realised how important it is to slow down, to look after ourselves, and to make space to simply be. When I discovered sound therapy, I found it gave me the space to sit with my grief in a way I hadn't experienced before. That journey eventually led me to train with the British Academy of Sound Therapy, and somewhere along the way I realised I'd found something I genuinely love doing.

These days, I spend my time sharing crystal bowls, Himalayan bowls, gongs and other beautiful instruments with people who are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, exhausted or simply in need of an hour that's just for them.

One of my favourite things is seeing people arrive a little unsure, often saying, "I've never done anything like this before." Then, an hour later, hearing them say, "I didn't realise how much I needed that."

I'm not here to promise miracles (although it can happen!) I simply offer a calm, welcoming space where you can press pause for a while and give your nervous system a chance to settle.

When I'm not in the studio, I'm usually working alongside my partner in her garden design business or seeing what heavy weight my PT has planned for me next. We spend as much time laughing as we do lifting, and I always leave feeling better than when I arrived.

If you've recently started following along, thank you for being here. And if you've been here for a while, thank you for being part of the journey. 🤍

Really lovely news from The British Academy of Sound Therapy - BAST today.

BAST has officially been accredited by the Federation of Holistic Therapists – recognition of the high standards, professionalism and quality of training that they provide.

As someone who trained with BAST, I'm incredibly proud to have been part of it. The knowledge, support and experience I gained continue to shape every sound therapy session I offer today.

A huge congratulations to the whole BAST team on this well-deserved recognition. 🤍

We're proud to share that BAST is now accredited by the Federation of Holistic Therapists.

The FHT is one of the UK's leading professional associations for therapists — and this accreditation is further recognition of the quality, rigour, and professional standards that sit at the heart of everything we teach.

For our students and graduates, this means your BAST qualification carries even greater weight in the professional world. 🎓

I think lots of us know this feeling!

You feel exhausted.

Your body is ready to rest.

But your mind has other ideas.

Sound experiences create a space where you don't have to achieve anything, solve anything or think about what's next.

Just time to pause, breathe and let the sounds gently guide you into a calmer place.

If you've been feeling like your brain never really gets the chance to slow down, perhaps it's time to give yourself an hour to simply be.

Ever fancied trying a crystal bowl sound experience but didn't want to come on your own?

Until 31st July, when you book a Crystal Bowl Sound Experience, you can bring a friend completely free.

Whether it's your partner, a friend, your mum, your sister or someone who could do with a little time to slow down, it's a lovely way to share the experience together.

The offer applies to bookings made before 31st July (your session can take place after that).

If you've been curious about sound therapy, this is the perfect opportunity to experience it together. ✨

Meet the Sandhya Bowl.

Handcrafted in Nepal, this unusual Himalayan singing bowl has a beautiful black and gold finish on the outside with a bright golden interior. Its name comes from the Sanskrit word for “twilight” – that moment between day and night.

What makes this bowl special is its sound. The tone is deep, warm and richly layered, with harmonics that continue to unfold long after the bowl has been struck. Rather than a single clear note, it creates a gentle wash of sound that feels grounding, calming and deeply relaxing to listen to.

One of my favourites, helping to create a sense of stillness and space for the mind and body to slow down.
