**Research spotlight: Reflexology and diabetic nerve pain**

New research published in *Pain Management Nursing* suggests that reflexology could have a role in supporting people living with diabetic neuropathic pain.

The systematic review and meta-analysis brought together eight studies involving 590 people. Overall, reflexology was associated with reduced pain and improved quality of life.

The researchers concluded that reflexology may be a potentially effective complementary approach for neuropathic pain, while also highlighting the need to consider limitations within the existing evidence.

It's encouraging to see the evidence base around complementary therapies continuing to develop.

Are you a reflexologist? What changes are you seeing in the research around your therapy?

7,000+ Reasons Your Feet Are Fascinating 👣 ❤️

Did you know that each foot has more than 7,000 nerve endings?

No wonder that working on the feet can feel so incredibly relaxing!

Our nervous system is the body's communication network, continually carrying information between the brain and the rest of the body.

Reflexology uses specific techniques on the feet, hands, face and ears, and one of the most fascinating areas of the current reflexology research is investigating what happens in the nervous system and brain while those techniques are being applied.

For many clients, one of the first things they notice during a treatment is simply:
"I feel so relaxed", relaxation matters with great benefits.

Giving an overstimulated nervous system an opportunity to settle can be an important part of supporting physical and mental wellbeing.

Our feet, being stimulated can give our busy minds permission to become quiet.
