A HUGE thank you to everyone who came along to see us over the weekend! 💙🚑

We had a fantastic couple of days at Braemar Day/Night and the Blair Highland Games, meeting so many people from our local community (and even some from further afield).

Thank you to everyone who stopped for a chat, asked questions, found out a little more about what our First Responders do, shared your own experiences, made a donation or simply took the time to say hello. Every conversation helps us spread the word about our service and why having local First Responders matters.

We are so grateful for all the support we've received. ❤️

And we're not stopping there!

This Thursday, we are delighted to be one of the chosen charities for the Pick Your Own Blueberries at Thomas Thomson Blairgowrie, Ashgrove Mill, PH10 7EX! 🫐

So if you're looking for something lovely to do, come along, enjoy some blueberry picking and help support your local First Responders at the same time.

Don't forget to bring suitable footwear, sunscreen/waterproofs (we all know how unpredictable the Scottish weather can be at this time of year!) and your own reusable tubs if possible - although punnets can be provided if needed.

You can pay for your blueberries using either cash or contactless card payment methods.

We'd absolutely love to see you there! 💙

Moffat local Christine Stewart has given 2,596 hours of her time as a Community First Responder this year, booking on nearly every day in 2026 and responding to 49 incidents to support her community.

Christine (right) pictured with her fellow Moffat CFR, Ally, was inspired to become a CFR 14 years ago after her husband suffered a cardiac arrest at home. Although he made a full recovery, the experience left Christine determined to learn how to help others in an emergency.

Of her volunteer role, Christine said: “Everyone in Moffat knows me as a volunteer responder. I booked on nearly every day this year, apart from five days when I was abroad. It’s important to support my community and make a difference.

“At the moment there are only two volunteers in the group, and we would love to welcome new recruits to help keep it going. Every incident is different and, once you get a call, the rush of adrenaline keeps you focused. Moffat is quite rural, so having local volunteer responders is vital.”

Community First Responders Coffee and Cake Fundraising Day

Come along to the 3 Witches and buy our superb cakes along with a hot drink. We will donate all payments for hot drinks to the Community First Responders

If you haven't heard of them yet or know what they will do -
A Community First Responder is a trained volunteer who attends life-threatening emergencies in their local area (Blairgowrie, Rattray and surrounding rural communities), providing immediate, potentially lifesaving care while an ambulance is on the way.

They are often the first people on scene, helping to bridge that vital gap in those early minutes when every second counts. This can include supporting someone who is unconscious, not breathing normally or experiencing a cardiac arrest, heart problem, stroke or other critical medical emergency. In medical emergencies, time is critical.

Early CPR and defibrillation can significantly improve survival chances
In rural areas, responders can often arrive before an ambulance.

But its a volunteer service - so they need your help to fund their training and equipment, please support us in this and come along.

Today Alison and Andrew are attending the Scottish Community Resuscitation Conference at St Andrews University's School of Medicine. Hosted by East Neuk First Responders and Save A Life For Scotland. Janice from Dunkeld & Birnam First Responders joined us.
