The theme for Carers Week 2026 is "Building Carer Friendly Communities."

Carers Week 2026 will run until 14th June and focuses on creating communities that recognise, value, and support unpaid carers in everyday life.

South Tyneside Council, along with our partners across South Tyneside, will be recognising the important contribution made by South Tyneside's estimated 15,000 carers.

Resident Doctors Industrial Action 15-19th June 2026

At present we have no resident doctors working at the practice so please be reassured there will be no impact on General Practice appointments.

Please attend your appointments as normal. If you need advice for a minor/mild illness or injury, in the first instance, please look at the self-care advice that’s available on-line from the NHS at www.nhs.uk or contact your local pharmacy.

Colliery Court Medical Group has officially signed the NHS Sexual Safety Charter. A national initiative, launched by NHS England.

The charter sets clear expectations, to ensure that all healthcare environments are safe, respectful and supportive for both patients and staff.

What does this mean for you as our patient?

By signing the Charter, we commit to:

Maintaining a zero‑tolerance approach to any unwanted or inappropriate sexual behaviour.
Providing a safe, respectful environment for every patient.
Ensuring you have clear and simple ways to report concerns.
Acting quickly and seriously on anything reported.

Your safety and comfort are always our priority.

What does this mean for our staff? It means that our team will:

Follow strengthened sexual‑safety policies.
Receive updated training.
Have clear guidance on reporting concerns.
Be supported in a culture of openness and respect.

Appointment Data

Between 20th April and 17th May Colliery Court Medical Group provided 2944 appointments with our clinical staff.

2330 of these appointments were face to face (above national average) 467 were by telephone and 147 of these were either by video or online.

1031 of these appointments were with a GP.

909 of the appointments were patients who were seen on the day they requested an appointment.

There were 133 appointments where patients did not attend.

If you are unable to attend your appointment please either cancel using the NHS App or use the cancel option on our phone line. There is no queue on the phone line to cancel appointments. This frees up slots for other patients who need to be seen.

• Coping strategies for everyday challenges
• Managing stress and protecting your wellbeing
• Setting boundaries and saying no
• Knowing where to get help and support
• Simple, practical wellbeing tools
• Sharing and learning with others in similar situations

Many people don’t realise they are unpaid carers – this course can help you explore that at your own pace.
