After this morning’s post, a few of you have asked if I’d share Julie’s poem… so here it is ❤️😂
Julie wrote this about her people, our Saturday 9am group.
And that’s exactly how it should be read! 😂 They work hard at their weight loss, support each other through the good weeks and the not so good ones, but most importantly they can laugh at themselves together.
It’s real, it’s a little bit cheeky 😂 and underneath all the jokes it’s about something pretty special. Friendship, belonging and knowing you’re never doing this alone ❤️
👇 And here it is… Julie’s poem 👇
THE 9AM NUTTERS ❤️
We’re chocoholics dreaming of cake by the ton,
Counting our calories while claiming it’s fun.
The alcoholics swear, “Just one glass tonight!”
Then somehow start planning a cocktail-filled night!
We’re nutters and misfits, a right motley crew,
With stories and excuses that couldn’t be true.
From blaming the dog to a “heavy shampoo”,
The reasons get wilder the older they grew!
At group every week we all gather around,
Sharing our victories, each lost little pound.
We laugh, cheer and gossip, put the world to rights,
Then swap our best recipes for Saturday nights.
Some weeks we’re all angels, some weeks we’re a mess,
One gained half a pound and we arrive full of stress.
But whatever life’s thrown us, we’re never alone,
For this crazy bunch feels very much like home.
So here’s to The 9am Nutters, the best there could be,
A gang of chocoholics as mad as can be.
We’ve found laughter and friendship, support without end,
And a room full of misfits we’re proud to call friends.
