Another very interesting before and after post! 👂🔎 ⚪️

The pictures in the comments show an 'orbeez' trapped deep inside the right ear canal of a child. The child had already been to A&E, who were unfortunately unable to remove the orbeez due to its size and shape, The orbeez ended up being wedged deep inside the ear canal before the parents contacted me.

What a coincidence that I had bought special flexible suction ends only a couple of weeks earlier! These silicone suction ends provide enhanced suction and are designed specifically for removing foreign bodies like orbeez, so removal was quick and painless. Thankfully no damage to the delicate structure of the ear canal had occurred. My young client was an absolute star! 🌟

This has to be one of my most satisfying foreign body removals! Take care when handling orbeez - keep them out of your nose and ears! 👃👂⚪️ 🚫

ProtectHear plugs are an excellent all-round choice due to them being super comfortable. They are made of a very soft silicone and the size / thickness can be altered during the ordering process allowing them to be used in a variety of different situations.

Another before and after post! 👂

The pictures in the comments show ear wax deep inside both ear canals. This wax has been pre-treated with bicarbonate of soda ear drops. The photos also show the ear canals afterwards once the wax has been removed. It demonstrates why home remedies to remove ear wax are not recommended.

This is not a unique case; I see it often. It is interesting due to the use of bicarbonate ear drops. I always recommend that my clients use a couple of applications of olive oil to loosen their ear wax prior to attending for an appointment. The reason I suggest olive oil is because it is easy to find, it is inexpensive and doesn't cause the delicate skin of the ear canal to become inflamed. Sometimes clients have already tried different drops or home remedies before contacting me to make an appointment, when they are unsuccessful at removing the wax themselves.

In the before photos you can see that the wax is very soft and sticky looking; this has been caused by the use of bicarbonate of soda ear drops. The wax is also very deep inside the ear canal; this is often caused by the use of cotton buds, but in this case it has been caused by the use of hearing aids in both ears. Deep, sticky wax is often more tricky to remove.

In this case due to the pre treatment with bicarbonate of soda ear drops, microsuction was unsuccessful in clearing the ear canals safely, so I opted to use water irrigation, which has successfully cleared all of the wax.

What you can see in the after photos is a lot of dry flaky skin due to the harshness of the bicarbonate of soda drops. There is also some inflammation in both ear canals. This can take a wee while to resolve depending on the severity.
