📖 CHAPTER 8 – Every Milestone Mattered
When I started this journey, I wasn't thinking about losing four stone.
I was simply hoping that, for once, I'd still be going a month later.
That first month meant everything.
It proved something I'd never truly believed before...
I could actually do this.
From that moment on, I stopped worrying about how far I still had to go & started celebrating how far I'd already come.
Then came my favourite little black dress.
I've probably had that dress for about ten years.
Some people have a favourite pair of jeans. Mine has always been that dress.
For years it hung in the wardrobe. I couldn't quite bring myself to part with it... because a tiny part of me hoped I'd wear it again.
The day I zipped it up, I stood looking in the mirror for far longer than I probably should have.
It wasn't just that it fitted.
It felt like I was returning to me.
What an amazing feeling.
Not because of the dress, but because I recognised the woman looking back at me.
Then came my holiday.
I'd reached my original goal of losing three stone.
For the first time in years, I packed a bikini.
Not because I thought I should...
Because I genuinely wanted to wear it.
Standing by the pool, I thought...
"I actually did it."
By then, something had changed.
I'd built healthier habits. I trusted myself.
I thought that was the end of my journey.
It wasn't.
The fourth stone was never part of the plan.
It became proof of what happens when you stop chasing the finish line... and start enjoying the journey.
Looking back, I don't remember every weigh-in.
I remember the milestones.
The first month.
My favourite little black dress.
The bikini.
The fourth stone that was never supposed to happen.
Because every one taught me the same lesson...
Small steps really do become big transformations.
🩷 I'd love to know...
What could you achieve if you focused on the next milestone, instead of the whole journey?
