Spotted on the shoreline this morning… 💙

This isn’t a jellyfish but a By-the-Wind Sailor (Velella velella), a tiny ocean drifter that spends its life floating on the sea surface using a transparent sail to catch the wind.

Recent winds and currents have brought a number of them ashore around Abersoch, leaving little blue sails scattered along the tide line.

Not harmful, but best admired rather than handled.
