I have always stood by her

JK Rowling paid £47.9m in tax which is enough to fund 1,372 NHS nurses for a year?! That’s wild.

That’s not a slogan.
That’s just maths.

Whatever you think of her.
Whatever side of that debate you’re on.
This is the bit that never seems to land.

That money didn’t come from “exploitation”.
It came from:
• books people chose to buy
• films people chose to watch
• attractions people chose to visit
• jobs created off the back of it all

And the result?

Nearly £50m straight into the public purse.

Yet we’re told, constantly, that people like this are the problem.
That they’re “not paying their fair share”.
That if we just taxed them harder, everything would magically be fixed.

But here’s the uncomfortable question;
If people like Rowling stop creating, investing, building…
or just decide to leave…

Who’s paying for those 1,372 nurses then?

Because the NHS isn’t funded by resentment.
It’s funded by tax receipts. And I’d imagine that’s enough nurses for a whole hospital surely??

Tax receipts only exist if success is allowed to exist in the first place.

Do we want more of this… or do we just like shouting “tax the rich” without ever looking at the numbers?
