Your mind can understand burnout long before your body feels safe enough to let go of it.

You can rationalise the exhaustion, push through, and tell yourself you’re fine.

But your body keeps communicating.

Sometimes healing isn’t about thinking differently. It’s about slowing down enough to notice what your body is asking for.

That’s where somatic therapy comes in — bringing the body into the conversation.

If you’re tired of thinking your way out of burnout, perhaps it’s time to listen to your body. 🤍

You are the woman who fixes everything, handles everyone, and holds the world up.

Everyone looks at you and sees a woman who can handle absolutely anything. But they don’t see you crying silently in your car before walking into the grocery store.

They don’t notice that your shoulders are glued to your ears from holding up everyone else’s world.

Your breath is constantly shallow because you are always ready for the next crisis. You don’t ask for help because your body remembers a time when doing it yourself was the only way to stay safe.

But your hyper-independence isn’t just a personality trait—it’s an exhausted nervous system running on empty.

You take care of your partner, your kids, your friends, and your job. But when you finally sit down at night, the silence feels heavy because nobody is checking in on you the way you check in on them.

Being capable shouldn’t mean suffering in silence. Your body shouldn’t have to break to get your attention.

In my therapy room, you can drop the heavy armor. We will work together to help both your mind and your body finally feel safe enough to exhale, soften, and rest.

If you are ready to stop running on empty, my door is open. 🤍

Survival mode is when your brain detects threat. This doesn’t always mean danger — it can come from overwhelm, pressure, stress, or too much for too long.

The important part is that you can’t always think your way out of survival mode. Start with the body and help your nervous system feel safe.

A simple somatic intervention you can try right now is orienting + grounding:

Slowly look around the room and name (in your mind or out loud) 5 things you can see. Let your eyes move gently, without rushing. Then feel your feet on the floor and press them down slightly, noticing the support beneath you. Add one hand to your chest or belly and let your breathing slow just a little — not forced, just allowed.

This combination tells your nervous system: I am here, and I am safe enough in this moment.

Small things count: placing a hand on your heart, slow breathing, gentle movement, grounding, orienting, and creating predictable routines.

Predictability isn’t boring — it’s safety.

Natural light before my phone

Morning light signals your brain that the day has begun.

It helps regulate your body clock, supporting energy, focus, mood and sleep.

Your phone wakes up your attention.
Natural light wakes up your brain.

Five minutes is enough ☀️

Yes, I’m a therapist.

But I’m also a woman who has experienced the quiet magic that happens when women gather.

I’ve seen healing happen in the therapy room, but I’ve also witnessed healing happen on woodland paths, around campfires, in shared laughter, honest conversations, and moments of silence in nature.

Because healing isn’t only found in therapy. It also lives in the relationships we build—with ourselves, with each other, and with the natural world.

I believe nature is one of our oldest healers.

Long before we lived behind screens and rushed through busy lives, women walked together. We gathered food, shared stories, held one another through life’s transitions, passed on wisdom, created rituals, and found belonging in community.

Somewhere along the way, many of us lost that.

Wandering Women Wellbeing is my small way of helping women remember.

A place to slow down. To breathe. To walk. To talk. To sit around a fire. To reconnect with nature, with one another, and with the parts of ourselves we’ve forgotten.

Because my work has never only been about what happens in the therapy room.

It’s about weaving connection, community, and a little everyday magic back into women’s lives.

Our next walk is this Sunday, 10:00am Hengistbury Head.
We will walk, talk, laugh, pause on the sand, option for some fun creativity, this is your space and I would be honoured to share it with you.

Who’s joining us?

Walking each day, surrounded by nature and away from the constant noise of everyday life, I was reminded how much we need movement, connection and moments to simply be present.

It reinforced for me why walking together through can be so powerful — creating space to talk, reflect and reconnect.

Sometimes the simplest things are the things that support us most. 🌿

This view reminded me that we don’t simply see the world as it is—we see it through the lens of our own experiences. Our history, beliefs and wounds shape how we interpret others, sometimes making it difficult to distinguish between what is truly there and what is a reflection of our own inner world.

Self-awareness doesn’t just change how we see ourselves; it changes how we see everyone else.

If you are ready to untangle your inner world and the stories you’ve been carrying, counselling can help 🧡

Some of the best conversations are had walking in nature. Walking alongside and hearing the work they do supporting emergency staff with their mental health has inspired and reaffirmed my own work supporting people I with their journey to mental wellbeing.
Be it 1:1 or in my wandering woman’s walking circle, being in nature and side by side with others feels so natural. Humans have evolved of course, but we will never evolve past needing nature, movement and connection.
Our next women’s walking circle will be Sunday 26th July. More info to follow 💛🙏🏻
