Christmas can be a stressful time for many, so the daily pandemic news may feel like it will tip you over the edge.

Don't bottle it up- you are not alone; many are struggling. We are in this together.

Connect- with family, friends, colleagues, or seek support from a counsellor if you need to.

Time is temporary and will pass - let's all support each other.

“Time to think of you”
:
:
It never ceases to amaze me/counsellors the amount of time that our client’s focus on others, putting themselves at the bottom of the list and not giving themselves any attention. They utilise all their strength, their compassion, their love, their patience on everyone around them, and by the end of the day their is nothing left for them.
:
:
:
Can you remember the last time you put yourself first? Do you struggle to focus on you, when everyone around you craves your attention? Do you feel guilty for putting yourself first on the rare occasion?
:
:
:
Here’s the challenge. Remember you matter, you are important, you need to be there for you. There are times when your cup needs to be replenished, and if you don’t, how can you be there for everyone else?

Self-doubt can be rather consuming. Overthinking and asking ourselves repetitive questions such as:

“have I done something wrong?”

“Am I any good at this?”

“Maybe I should do something else?”

“I wonder what someone else would do…they would do it better than me.”
:
:
:
We know that these thoughts can perpetuate negative thoughts and feed in to the “critical voice” that seems loom in during these times.
:
:
:
As a group of colleagues, these moments occur for us. Reaching out and sharing how we are currently feeling and any areas that may have caused some self-doubt can help. Reminding each other of our skills and why we ventured in to this area of work is sometimes all that we need.
:
:
:
It’s inevitable that these moments will come along, but take a step back, reach out to like minded people or a friend and give less air time to that self-doubt.

To those of you whom we have had the pleasure to work with, we would be very grateful if you could leave a review for us either on Google or here on Facebook

Leaving a public review can help others make the desicion to seek therapy and benefit from it. It will also help us to reach more people and in turn, help those too.

Not all heroes wear capes; they leave reviews 😉

Have a lovely Sunday!

Mental Health Awareness Week
:
:
:
It’s rather unusual to write this but from next week we will be able to hug other people. The idea that we can actually hug our family members brings joy to so many of us. It’s human nature to require physical contact from others.
:
:
:
We still have to act with caution, but it feels as though we are moving in the right direction.
:
:
:
With that in mind, who are you looking forward to visiting, hugging, having a cup of tea with from next week?

It's and the have chosen as this year's theme.

There are lots of ways we can to benefit our mental and physical health (which as we now know is inextricably linked)

How do you connect with nature? 💚

Shhhh....silence
:
:
:
We use silence in counselling quite a lot. It takes a bit of getting used to, for both the client and counsellor, but it can be very helpful and beneficial during a session.
:
:
:
Silence can help the client to reflect on what has just been said. Allowing the thoughts and feelings in relation to what was shared, can sometimes navigate the next part of the session. Remembering past memories, situations, emotions, allowing the client time to process their words.
:
:
:
When we think of silence in a conversation, sometimes it can be awkward. We naturally want to fill the void. In counselling, it’s important to use those moments of pause, giving the client the chance to compose themselves, especially if they have become emotional.
:
:
:
How do you feel about silence?
