At Essex Private Doctors, our sleep apnoea testing takes place in your own home, in your own bed, over two nights. No hospital. No disruption to your routine beyond wearing a small piece of equipment while you sleep.

The device monitors your overnight oxygen levels, your breathing movement, and your nasal airflow throughout the night. It is easy to attach by yourself and full instructions and a video guide come with the kit.

We recommend a two-night study because the first night with new equipment can feel slightly different. The second night gives a much more reliable picture of how you normally sleep. Results are analysed by a qualified sleep physiologist and reviewed by our GP team.

Could you be eating too much protein? It sounds unlikely, but it is one of the most common reasons we see weight plateaus in clinic. 💙

We are surrounded by protein products right now. Protein yogurts, shakes, wraps, crisps. While protein is absolutely important, it is very easy to inadvertently have too much, particularly when so many of those products are also highly processed and calorie-dense.

You need to get your heart rate to around 140 to 160 bpm. Short, sharp, and effective:

🏃 Really brisk walking where you are genuinely out of breath
