The company St Michaels Homes Ltd comprises of two elderly care homes which are adjacent to each other Howard Lodge & Dudbrook House, nestling in beautiful park-like gardens in Kelvedon Common on the outskirts of Brentwood, surrounded by beautiful Essex countryside, with abundant wildlife, including deer as regular visitors. St Michaels Homes Ltd is a family-run company. The company was established by managing director Sheila Watson in 1991 and has been handed over to her children Claire & Sean Watson. Sheila trained as a registered nurse & midwife followed by 25yrs in midwifery, followed by 5 yrs as a health advisor to the elderly & obtained a diploma in gerontology. With this experience in care of residents comes from the top down, this can be seen by the way the residents are cared for by all staff. The staff are the heart of St Michaels Homes and they are the ones who give so much and care for all our residents and we are truly so blessed with all the love and care they give to every resident at Howard Lodge and Dudbrook House. Loneliness and feeling a burden in older age is a great and growing scourge of our society. You will not find lonely people in our care homes - you will find support, companionship and strong bonds of friendship.

Our residents enjoyed a wonderfully elegant morning of music, melodies and beautiful moments, singing along to much-loved favourites in the company of friends. 🥂🎤💐

A little glamour, a lot of laughter and, of course, plenty of fabulous singing! ❤️🎵

Good afternoon Relatives and Friends of Howard Lodge.
The Food and Drink log sheets are now ready for use. You will find them in phoebes in a plastic holder. Please fill one in every time you are with your relative/friend, to ensure we are aware of food and drink consumption when they are with you .
This could be down in phoebes, in the garden or out on a trip.
Once filled in please post in the red box outside admin office ready for distribution to the appropriate hamlet .
We would be grateful if you could make it a habit of filling in for us at each visit, this is so we can make sure we have as accurate daily intake as possible to ensure our residents are meeting their daily target 🎯

Today this lovely group of 10 staff from both our homes went to Chelmsford for a course run by Mike from .
Very interesting and thought provoking day.
We learnt about ways to read what our residents who live with Dementia are trying to tell us through body language and behavioural ques .

Thanks to them all for attending - we really have such dedicated and wonderful staff teams.

🌟 What a fantastic day at Howard Lodge! 🌟

Today our residents enjoyed a wonderful mix of activities, laughter and entertainment. ⛳️😊

We started with some fantastic indoor golf, where our residents showed off their skills and competitive spirit! Others enjoyed some lovely Just Me and You time with Margaret, enjoying a little one-to-one companionship. ❤️

This afternoon we were delighted to welcome the very talented Mouse to entertain us! 🎶 What a treat it was. There was plenty of singing, dancing and even some enthusiastic chair dancing from our residents! 💃🕺 We always love having Mouse here — he certainly knows how to get everyone smiling and having fun! 🎤❤️

And to finish off the day, our weekly Scrabble Club got underway. As always, the ladies enjoyed a great game, with plenty of concentration, conversation and a little friendly competition! 🧩😊

Another lovely day filled with fun, friendship and fabulous memories at Howard Lodge.
