The Jurassic Coast gets all the fame. Yorkshire's equivalent stretches 40 miles from Staithes to Filey, and most people walk straight past the fossils at their feet.

Saltwick Bay has been producing ammonites and marine reptile bones since at least 1824. Robin Hood's Bay gives them up on almost every slab at low tide.

Port Mulgrave, a ruined ironstone port most visitors never reach, is one of the most productive fossil sites on the entire coast.
