🌟 Meet Jo Pickering our Deputy Manager 🌟

This week, we’re delighted to shine a spotlight on Jo Pickering, our dedicated Deputy Manager here at The Maltings.

Jo’s journey into care began with a diploma in childcare and a role as a nursery assistant. She then embarked on nurse training before a family circumstance led her in a different direction. Determined to continue helping others, Jo moved into home care before spending 13 rewarding years supporting children in a special needs school.

Her passion for caring eventually led her into residential care, where she quickly realised it was where she truly belonged. After a period working back in the community, Jo found herself missing the close relationships and sense of family that care home life brings, and returned to the sector. Through hard work, commitment and compassion, she progressed from Senior Care Assistant to Deputy Manager.

With many years of experience supporting people of all ages, Jo is passionate about helping others live happy, fulfilling lives. She believes her caring nature comes naturally from being a mum and takes great pride in supporting both residents and colleagues every day.

When she’s not at work, Jo enjoys spending time with her family, making memories, and embracing life’s simple pleasures.

Meet Jenny Ambler 👋

This week, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on Jenny Ambler, one of our dedicated Senior Care Assistants at The Maltings Care Home.

With 10 years of experience in the care sector, Jenny has built an inspiring career, progressing from Care Assistant to Senior Care Assistant through hard work, compassion, and a genuine passion for supporting others. She is currently working towards becoming a Team Leader and has ambitions to continue her professional development with an NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management.

Jenny’s positive attitude and infectious smile make her a valued member of our team. She loves coming to work each day and enjoys creating meaningful connections with residents, helping to make every day enjoyable and fulfilling.

Alongside her care role, Jenny is also our Moving & Handling Trainer, having completed specialist training in York. She takes great pride in supporting and mentoring colleagues, helping them build confidence and deliver the highest standards of care.

As one of our Safeguarding Champions, Jenny is passionate about ensuring every resident feels safe, respected, and valued. Her commitment to protecting and supporting those in our care is something she takes immense pride in.

Looking to the future, Jenny hopes to progress into a Deputy Manager position, continuing to make a positive difference to the lives of residents, families, and colleagues alike.

🐾 Pet Therapy with Carol & Toby 🐾

A Perfect Day in the Sunshine ☀️

A lovely day out enjoying a walk in the fresh air and making the most of the beautiful sunshine.

After stretching our legs and taking in the surroundings, it was time for a well deserved pint and a chance to sit back, relax and enjoy the moment.

It’s the simple pleasures that bring the biggest smiles – good company, fresh air, and sunshine on your face. 🍺

Dementia Friendly Talk 💜

Join us on Tuesday 9th June at 1:30pm for an informative and supportive Dementia Friendly Talk hosted by Sally from the Alzheimer’s Society.

This session will help us better understand dementia, its impact on individuals and families, and how we can all play a part in creating a more dementia-friendly community.

Our salon days are always a wonderful opportunity for residents to relax, unwind, and enjoy some well-deserved pampering.

Whether it’s a manicure, a fresh set of nails, or simply taking time out for themselves, these sessions help promote wellbeing, boost confidence, and provide valuable one-to-one interaction in a calm and welcoming environment.

It’s lovely to see residents enjoying these special moments of self-care and leaving feeling refreshed, relaxed, and looking their best. 😊
