Worrying about September before term ends is not “overthinking”.
It may be your mind remembering the workload, pressure and lack of rest.
Naming the specific fear can make it feel more manageable.

Term hasn’t ended, but your mind is already in September.
You don’t need to solve next year today.
For now, come back to this moment.

You do not need to solve September yet. Gently name what feels heavy and come back to this moment.

Some teachers reach the end of term feeling full rather than free.

Full of worry.
Full of unfinished tasks.
Full of guilt for needing rest.

Therapy can help you understand why you feel responsible for so much, and what makes it hard to put things down.

Book a free intro call to see whether working together feels right.

Your body needs time to respond.

You may still feel tense, tired, or unable to switch off.

That does not mean you are failing to rest.

It may mean you have been running on pressure for a long time.

What would it be like to let relief arrive slowly?

Year 11 have gone, but your mind may still be full.

The admin.
The follow-ups.
The second-guessing.
The quiet question of whether you did enough.

Maybe you are not behind.
Maybe you have just been carrying more than anyone could see.

**What have I been holding that no one else has noticed?**

Teachers often notice what needs doing before they notice what it will cost them.

The task.
The worry.
The gap.
The guilt.

Before you leave school tomorrow, ask:

Was this mine to carry?
Where did I assume it would fit?

You do not have to carry everything into the holiday.

If you are a teacher who finds it hard to switch off, it may not be because you need to “just set better boundaries”.

It may be because stopping feels uncomfortable.

Guilty.
Unsafe.
Like you are letting people down.

Therapy can help you gently understand why rest feels so hard.

I offer online therapy for teachers across the UK, and in-person counselling in Brierley Hill.

Free 20-minute introductory call available.

Marking matters.

But sometimes the pressure around it can become heavier than the task itself.

It can start to feel like proof.

Proof you are keeping up.
Proof you are committed.
Proof no one can say you are not doing enough.

That is a lot for one pile of books to hold.

A gentle question:

What am I trying to prove by doing this right now?
