The Bristol Paws Project We are a volunteering/fundraising society made of vet and vet nurses from the University of Bristol🧡

🐾 The Bristol Paws Project is a volunteering and fundraising society that started in 2016

🧡 We are a group of veterinary and veterinary nursing students from the University of Bristol passionate about reducing the financial barriers to pet ownership and raising awareness about the benefits of the animal-human bond.

❓What do we do❓

➜ We work with many charities and organisations in the Bristo

l community who share the same vision as us. StreetVet, Bristol Outreach Services for the Homeless - BOSH, Bristol Animal Rescue centre and Caring in Bristol.

➜ We do regular outreaches with StreetVet, where our committee members join volunteer vets to provide essential pet care and supplies to those in need. We also work with Bristol Outreach Services for the Homeless (BOSH) where we hand out pet food and supplies to pet owners experiencing homelessness.

💬 We run educational talks throughout the year mainly based on shelter medicine and fundraisers to support the work we do and the charities we work with.

Did you catch our co- presidents Susie and Kira on the radio this morning? 🎧 An amazing job representing our society – we’re incredibly proud! ⭐

To echo what Susie and Kira said, for many people, pets are so much more than animals- they are companions, family members, and sometimes even a lifeline ❤️ Here at PAWS, we are passionate about helping those who may be vulnerable or facing difficult circumstances to preserve that special bond. Whether that’s through providing pet food or access to veterinary care, we hope that no one has to choose between their wellbeing and that of their beloved companion 🐾

Exciting News 🐕 🐱 📻

Kira and Susie our co-presidents will be LIVE on BBC Radio Bristol at around Midday on Monday 27th July to talk about the project and why all of us care so much about what we do! Please do tune in - we’re excited and nervous.

An extremely exciting day for us here at The Bristol PAWS project as we launch a new collaboration supporting vulnerable care leavers in North Somerset!

Susie met with Andrew and Helen from the council today and did an initial drop off of dog and cat food as well as other animal supplies 🧡🐾

For a lot of these young people their pets are a lifeline and we are very excited to start supporting them ☺️

We will continue supplying them with food and also we are looking to support the care leavers in other ways such as animal care talks, careers support and mentoring 🐾🧡

A huge thank you to those who donate supplies to us or have donation points , , Golden Valley Vets, .petstudio . Because of you we can help people and we are forever grateful.

We are always looking for more donations or for local businesses to set up donation points, please send us a message if you are interested!

🧡🐾Outreach dates for your diary 🐾🧡

July brings two very exciting sessions:
1. 15th July from 2-3pm is our pet food bank
2. 29th July 2-3pm is our animal careers taster session. It’ll be hands on and interactive for children and young people interested in working with animals.

Both will be at the Hartcliffe and Withywood microcampus at the Gatehouse Centre BS13 9JN.

PAWS project committee member and 3rd year vet student Liv and Bristol Veterinary school staff , including Sheena Warman and the CSL team, enjoyed the sunshine at St Peter’s CofE Primary School Fair - “St Peter’s Fest” - on Friday evening. There was great enthusiasm and participation from the children, bandaging animals in all sorts of creative ways, milking our model cow, and safely delivering twin lambs in our lambing simulator. It was a great opportunity to inspire some of the future generations of farmers and veterinary professionals! Thanks to Liv and the Vet School’s Clinical Skills Lab team, especially Lou and Arthur who came along and those behind the scenes for supporting the event! Thank you to and St Peter’s primary school. We look forward to doing more outreach in the community this year 🐾🧡

We are honoured to have been named among 50 of the most influential students and societies 🧡🐾 so many other incredible people and groups on this list, so well done to all ✨

This year, we have delivered the most impactful year yet, including vaccinating over 170 pets for free, launching monthly community drop‑in sessions, and raising thousands of pounds for outreach and supplies. We also distributed nearly 100 Christmas backpacks for pets and owners, expanded donation points across the city, and strengthened partnerships with local charities. Our work continues to make a real difference for people and their pets across Bristol and we cannot thank our members, the university and all our supporters enough. Here’s to next year and to helping more people and their wonderful pets 🥰

We are proud of our partnership with , we attend twice monthly outreaches, bringing food, dog coats, harnesses and many other items. This is alongside supporting the vets and doing monthly rounds behind the scenes.

Another successful outreach with and at the Microcampus in Hartcliffe.

Alongside Bristol Animal Rescue Centre we supplied food for many dogs and cats across the area, helping reduce financial barriers for pet ownership to those who need it most 🐾🧡

Another drop off of dog and cat food and other pet supplies to 🧡🐾 Days like this remind us why we do what we do, helping the most vulnerable pet owners in Bristol, because we know that animals bring so much to our lives and everyone deserves that blessing ✨
