😴 Struggling to switch off at night? You’re not alone.
One of the most common reasons people seek Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is to improve their sleep. Stress and anxiety can keep our minds busy, making it difficult to relax and drift off.
Rather than focusing on the problem, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy helps you build on your strengths and develop practical techniques to support better sleep. Here are three that can make a real difference (even during a heatwave!)
⏰ 1. Stay consistent: Keep regular sleep and wake times to support your natural rhythm. Getting into a good sleep/wake cycle can help you get to sleep
More easily, sleep more deeply, and feel more refreshed during the day. Our brains like to work on prediction and release hormones based on patterns of behaviours so consistency really does help your body and mind.
🫁 2. Breathe: Use belly breathing to relax your body and quiet your mind. To activate your parasympathetic nervous system (‘rest and digest’), lie flat, make yourself comfortable and place one hand on your belly and one hand on your chest. Inhale slowly through your nose, allowing the belly to rise but keeping the chest still. Exhale through your nose or mouth allowing the belly to come back down.
Inhale for 4, exhale for 4 and repeat for 2-5 minutes.
🧠 3. Self-Hypnosis
Learning self-hypnosis gives you a simple tool you can use whenever your mind feels busy. It helps reduce overthinking, encourages relaxation, and gives you greater confidence in managing your own sleep routine.
🌙 Better sleep isn’t just about getting more hours—it’s about giving your mind and body the opportunity to rest, recover, and recharge.
