£20,874 already, and counting!

Go Bananas launched just hours ago, and already you’ve donated, started fundraisers, shared the campaign and shouted about Gympanzees, helping us raise more than £20k towards our £350k public Crowdfunder target.

What a brilliant start. 🙌

Match funding is available for a limited time, so if you’ve been thinking about donating or starting a fundraiser, now is the best time to do it and help your support go even further.
£5 can become £10. £50 can become £100.
Whether you donate, fundraise, share the campaign or simply tell someone about what we’re building, you’re helping us move closer to opening the doors in Spring 2027.

Five weeks...

Today, we’ve launched our final public Crowdfunder – and the next five weeks are crucial.

We need your support to raise £350,000 to help get the doors of the permanent Gympanzees centre open.

Why?

1.8 million disabled children in the UK. 💜

30,000 visits across 184 days of Gympanzees Pop Ups. 🙌

£9 million raised so far. 🎉

The first step in bringing Gympanzees centres to communities across the UK. 💜

In this video, Kelly shares an honest account of what Gympanzees means to her family – and why having a permanent, fully inclusive place matters.

For the early days of this Crowdfunder, every donation is DOUBLED.

Thank you to the volunteers who kindly helped make this film.
Gympanzees is a charity creating the UK’s first fully inclusive exercise, play and social centre for disabled children and young people, and their families. Too many disabled children face barriers to accessing exercise, play and social opportunities. Opening in Spring 2027, our first permanent centre will be a place where those barriers are removed – so children and young people can move, play, have fun, make friends and feel that they belong. Our longer-term ambition is to create more Gympanzees centres across the UK, giving more disabled children, young people and families access to the opportunities they deserve.

Pembrokeshire Coast walking challenge: completed. 💜🥾

Paul has completed the full 190 miles in 12 days, walking from Amroth to St Dogmaels and raising an incredible £10,780 for Gympanzees along the way.

And that fundraising has helped take our total raised for the Gympanzees centre to over £9 million! 🎉

Paul was joined at different points by Ben Heald, Martyn Jones, Steve Mardall, Dave Williams, Jack Lewis, Tom Spicer, Paul and Fiona Reynolds, with our CEO and Founder Steph Wheen joining him for the final day and crossing the finish line together.

Over the 12 days, Paul took roughly 358,500 steps, averaging just under 30,000 steps every single day through sunshine, rain, strong winds and some very sore feet.

In his own words:
“It was physically challenging to go out for a walk for 12 days in a row in all weathers, but families supported by Gympanzees don’t have a day off, so 12 days was the least I could do.”

And Paul’s fundraising will have an impact in more than one way.

Half of the money raised will support concessions for Welsh families once we open. Estimated to fund around 257 full visits to Gympanzees.

The other half will support the build of our permanent centre, helping us move another step closer to opening our doors in Spring 2027.

Paul, thank you for every mile, every blister and every step closer to making this happen. And thank you to everyone who walked alongside him, donated and supported him throughout those 12 days. 💜

What a way to spend the final afternoon of Paul Spicer’s incredible challenge! 🥾💜

After almost 12 days walking the 186-mile Pembrokeshire Coast Path to raise vital funds for Gympanzees, Paul is taking on his final few miles, joined by our CEO and Founder, Stephanie Wheen.

Together, they’ll cross the finish line later today, bringing this extraordinary journey to an end. Nearly there, Paul! 🎉

Here’s a little behind-the-scenes peek at something we’ve been working on for September 29th.

We can’t wait to share the full story with you. 💜

Three days into Paul’s Walk for Gympanzees, and he has already covered an incredible 43.4 miles and 84,500 steps along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path! 🥾💜

The route has taken him past one magical beach after another, with so many climbs and descents that the first two days alone were equivalent to climbing Ben Nevis and coming back down again.

Along the way, Paul has spotted red-billed choughs soaring in the wind, swan families and a diving kingfisher at Bosherston Lily Ponds, as well as seals and their pups resting along the coast.

The weather hasn’t always been kind. Paul has faced strong winds, sideways rain and gusts of up to 40 mph, which made staying upright a challenge at times! Thankfully, he was joined by Ben Heald and Martyn Jones for some much-appreciated company and support.

What an incredible first three days. Keep going, Paul – everyone at Gympanzees is cheering you on! 💜

70% of young disabled people experience chronic loneliness. 💜

This Youth Mental Health Day, we're talking about something too often left out of the conversation: loneliness doesn't affect all young people equally.

For many disabled children and young people, opportunities to build friendships, join in, and simply spend time with people their own age are far harder to come by. They want connection just as much as anyone else. What's missing is enough spaces built to include them.

At Gympanzees, we see what happens when that barrier is removed. Siblings playing together for the first time. Friendships forming over a shared game or simply having a place where you feel like you belong.

This year's Youth Mental Health Day theme is , and for us, building that future starts with making sure no young person is left out of the chance to connect.
