A rainy forecast led to an indoor Meditative Art session this week ๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŒน

With views of the garden, roses in bloom and the scent of jasmine nearby, residents spent the afternoon working on their artwork and chatting together. Irene was especially focused on a beautiful bird design that took shape throughout the session.

Wear a Hat Day brought some fun to a very hot afternoon โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘’

Di decorated her hat with a scarf, bunny and even Lindt chocolates (which didnโ€™t quite survive the heat!), while Jane added her own creative touches too. A light-hearted way to keep cool and enjoy the garden together.

A morning of baking at Woodpeckers saw residents making orange zest shortbread by hand ๐ŸŠ

There was plenty of conversation while mixing, especially when stories of unusual Christmas pudding โ€œmethodsโ€ came upโ€ฆ including one involving a washing machine! The biscuits were enjoyed together once baked, warm and light straight from the kitchen ๐Ÿ˜Š

Residents from Woodpeckers enjoyed a spring visit to Exbury Gardens recently ๐ŸŒฟ

It was a relaxed walk through the gardens, taking in the colour, the fresh air and plenty of conversation along the way. Di completed the full route and still had energy for another stroll back at the home afterwards โ˜€๏ธ

We had a wonderful time celebrating International Nurses Day earlier this week, and were thrilled to welcome two very special guests to the home for an afternoon celebration ๐Ÿฅ‚๐Ÿฐ

We were joined by Colten Care's Chief Operating Officer, Elaine Farrer - a registered nurse herself with 40 years' experience, and also by recently retired nurse, Sarah - who started her career in nursing at Woodpeckers as a Bournemouth University student all those years ago.

Sarah said: โ€œI learned the most important parts of care when I was at Woodpeckers, that comfort, respect and kindness are as big a part of it as clinical skills."

As part of the day, we were also delighted to celebrate those residents who had served as nurses during their careers. And we give thanks to nurses everywhere - past, present, and future ๐Ÿฉต
