𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀.
Microsuction uses gentle suction to remove excess ear wax while the clinician observes the ear throughout the procedure.

There's no water involved and treatment can often be completed relatively quickly.
Most importantly, your ears should always be assessed first to make sure wax removal is appropriate.

There's really nothing to worry about.

Your clinician will talk to you about any symptoms or concerns before carefully examining your ears.
This allows us to see the ear canal and eardrum and identify whether excess wax is present.
If ear wax removal is appropriate, we'll explain the options and what to expect.
And if something doesn't look quite right or needs further investigation, we'll advise you on the appropriate next step.

We're all different.

Some people naturally produce more wax, while the shape of the ear canal can also make it more difficult for wax to work its way out naturally.
Hearing aids, earplugs and regularly wearing devices inside the ears can also sometimes interfere with the ear's natural process of clearing wax.

We often don't appreciate just how important our hearing is until something changes.
Looking after your ears is a small part of looking after your overall wellbeing.

𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲.

𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲:
• Muffled hearing
• A feeling of fullness or pressure
• Itching
• Discomfort
• Ringing or buzzing
• Sounds seeming quieter than usual

Ear wax can cause some of these symptoms, but there can be other explanations too.
That's why having someone actually look inside your ears is important.

𝗘𝗮𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝘅 - 𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻 - 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝘀:
• Trap dust and debris
• Protect the delicate skin inside the ear canal
• Help prevent the ear canal from becoming too dry
• Provide part of the ear's natural defence system

So having ear wax is completely normal.

The problem comes when too much accumulates and creates a blockage.
That's when you might notice symptoms such as muffled hearing, fullness or discomfort.

But putting cotton buds into your ears can actually push wax further down the ear canal and potentially make a blockage worse.

Your ears have their own natural cleaning mechanism and, for most people, ear wax gradually works its own way out.

If wax does become impacted, the answer isn't to keep poking at it.
Have your ears professionally assessed instead.
