On Friday evening, the Walfinch Croydon team had the pleasure of attending the Manager’s Cheese and Wine Evening at Peony Court Care Home Barchester Healthcare.

With glorious sunshine, delicious French cheese and wine pairings, and the opportunity to spend time chatting with residents and fellow guests, it was a truly enjoyable evening. Every detail had been thoughtfully planned, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere for everyone.

A special thank you to Home Manager Charles, who was a wonderful host and made every guest feel so welcome. It was lovely to see the sense of community that Peony Court has created, and we look forward to continuing to work together to support local older people and their families.

Hot weather can be more than just uncomfortable. For many older people it can quickly become overwhelming, exhausting, and even dangerous.

Please take a moment to look after yourself and those around you. Drink plenty of water, keep cool where you can, and if you have an elderly family member, neighbour, or friend, check in on them. Sometimes a quick phone call, a knock on the door, or asking “Are you okay?” can mean more than we realise.

If you or a loved one need extra support during this heatwave, please contact our team. We are here to help, offer advice, and make sure nobody has to face difficult days alone.

Clare, our BDM, had the pleasure of delivering a Dementia Awareness information session at Peony Court Care Home - Barchester Healthcare in Croydon last week, and what a fantastic afternoon it was.

The group was so warm, engaged and thoughtful, with some wonderful conversations about dementia awareness and how we can all better support people living with dementia in our community.

A huge thank you to Charles, the fantastic manager at Peony Court, and the whole Peony Court team for making us feel so welcome. They kindly baked cakes and provided teas and coffees for everyone attending, which was such a lovely touch.

We were also very generously presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, such a thoughtful gesture and truly appreciated.

Opportunities like this remind us how important strong community ties are. We are grateful to work alongside wonderful local organisations like Peony Court, who clearly care deeply about their residents, families and the wider community.

Last week, we had the pleasure of visiting Sean and the wonderful team at Amberley Lodge in Purley.

It was truly refreshing to spend time with the team and residents, and to feel the warmth, kindness, and genuine compassion that fills the home. Amberley Lodge is rated Outstanding by the CQC, and after meeting the people behind the care, it is easy to see why.

There is something really special about connecting with others who share the same passion for providing the highest level of care and making a real difference in people’s lives.

As a homecare provider, building strong relationships within our community means so much to us. When care providers come together, we can support one another, share values, and help create the best possible experience for those we care for.
