I’m thrilled to share that I’ve officially passed my theory exam for Dr. Vodder Level 1 Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) — the gold standard in lymphatic training.
This course has been a whole new level of depth compared to anything I’ve studied before. I’m genuinely glad I worked my way up to it, because jumping straight in would have been overwhelming. Learning the lymphatic system from a cellular level has completely transformed my understanding of what weakens lymph function and how to support it more effectively.
Next up is a 4‑day practical training, followed by a full day of hands‑on assessment. I’m so excited to learn these specialist techniques, and — fingers crossed 🤞 — once I pass, I’ll be able to join the official MLD Register and appear on the MLD UK website.
For anyone unfamiliar: the Dr. Vodder Method is a precise, gentle, hands-on technique developed in the 1930s. It’s not just “lymphatic drainage massage” — it is true Manual Lymphatic Drainage, directly stimulating lymph vessels with specific rhythms and pressures to safely move lymph without stressing delicate tissues.
These new techniques will elevate my current practice and help me support even more clients dealing with fluid retention and lymphatic concerns. I can’t wait to bring this higher level of care to my treatments.
Just to add there is nothing wrong with drainage massage, both treatments are beneficial, but are different and being able to offer both or combine the skills is going to give an optimal treatment. I already do both but these new techniques will mean I should be able to achieve even better results.
