👣 Diabetes & Foot Health – Why It Matters 👣

If you have diabetes, regular foot care is essential. Small changes in circulation, sensation, skin, swelling, or nails can quickly become bigger problems without early treatment.

It’s important to be seen by a qualified podiatrist with diabetic foot experience.

I have nearly a decade of NHS experience in podiatry and now bring this into my private practice, alongside postgraduate study in Diabetes Management, focused on diabetic foot care and complication prevention.

Many people now choose extra private support alongside NHS services to help maintain regular ongoing foot care.

I can help with:
✔ Hard skin and corns
✔ Nail care
✔ Swelling and skin changes
✔ Early signs of pressure or ulcer risk

Early care helps prevent complications and keeps you mobile and comfortable.

If you have diabetes and would like advice or an assessment, feel free to get in touch — no obligation to book.

☀️ Now the warmer weather has finally arrived, I’m seeing a big increase in cracked heels and fissures.

As people start spending more time in the sun and wearing more open footwear and sandals, heels can dry out quickly — and what starts as dry skin can easily turn into painful cracks if left.

Fissures can become quite sore and, in some cases, lead to infection if they deepen, so it’s always worth keeping an eye on them early.

This can be even more common in people with diabetes, as the skin can become drier and slower to heal, increasing the risk of cracks developing and becoming problematic.

Prevention really is the key — regular moisturising and early treatment of dry skin can make a big difference before it progresses into painful fissures.

If you’ve noticed your heels becoming dry, splitting or uncomfortable, you’re definitely not alone — it’s very common this time of year.

If you’re unsure what to do, feel free to get in touch and ask — there’s absolutely no need to book, I’m always happy to offer advice.

I have just ONE appointment slot left this Wednesday 👣

If you’ve been putting off getting your feet checked or treated, now’s the time to get booked in!

I’ll then be away from clinic and won’t be back until 13th May, so this is the last chance to be seen before then.

Message me directly to grab the final slot!

“I thought it was athlete’s foot… but it wasn’t”

Itchy feet does not always mean a fungal infection.

I’ve seen quite a few cases recently in the clinic where this has been misdiagnosed, with patients treating “athlete’s foot” for weeks (or even months)—often spending a lot of money on antifungal treatments—with no improvement.

Why? Because sometimes the cause isn’t actually athlete’s foot—or even a skin condition at all 👀

🚩 Clue: If your feet are itchy but there’s
✔ No redness
✔ No peeling skin
✔ No improvement with antifungal treatments

…it might be time to look a little deeper.

Getting the right diagnosis makes all the difference—and saves time (and money) on the wrong treatments.

If something doesn’t feel right, feel free to get in touch 👣
