About me!

I thought I would take this opportunity to tell you all a bit more about me and my journey before becoming a Physiotherapist!

I have always been a keen sports woman and I have participated in sports/physical activity from the age of 5 when I started dance, I then became a gymnast at the age of 8 and continued this for 5 years alongside football and rugby (I discovered that football is not a natural talent of mine). Then in my last year of school I became captain of the netball, rounders and hockey teams. There was a lack of girls wanting to play rugby when I was at school so I focused on hockey but decided when I left school that I missed playing rugby so I joined a girls team. I then decided to study sport and exercise sciences at a college away from home alongside a women's rugby development programme. I joined the gym when I was 17 years old to support my rugby training and performance. I started to acquire a few injuries through rugby and went to see a Physiotherapist which sparked my interest. So I decided to do a foundation degree in Access to HE for Healthcare Professionals. Alongside, this I coached Rugby to children aged 2-7 years and a girls under 13s team. The following year I got into university and became interested in being a powerlifter and I did this for 2-3 years alongside university.

I got a job part time at Nike in my second year of University and especially enjoyed helping runners find appropriate footwear for running. I now enjoy running, swimming and weightlifting and I am interested in competing in a Hyrox in the future but I always aim for movement that I find fun and that makes me feel good.

I am a Physiotherapist but I am also human and I have personal experience of being injured or in pain and not being able to get back to the sports and activities that I love. Therefore, I appreciate the frustration, disappointment and helplessness my patients may experience following injury or pain.

I treat my patients holistically using evidence based practice to consider both physical and psychological needs of the person I am treating. I have experience of working in inpatient, outpatient and community settings within the NHS treating a variety of injuries, conditions and pain symptoms.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post and if you choose Hale & Healthy Physiotherapy I look forward to meeting you in the future.
