Hear is another interesting read
When your jaw clenches, your pelvis compensates.

The cascade:
1️.Jaw imbalance pulls your head forward
2️.Your neck muscles tighten to stabilize
3️.Your spine compensates by shifting
4️.Your pelvis tilts to maintain balance
5️.One-sided back pain, hip tightness, or SI joint dysfunction appears

Why this happens:
1.Your jaw connects to deep neck muscles that attach directly to your spine.
2.When jaw muscles stay tight, they create a chain of compensations that travel downward.
3.Your brain tries to keep you balanced, so when your head shifts forward from jaw tension, your pelvis shifts backward.

👉🏽This is why jaw clenchers often have chronic lower back issues that don’t respond long term to hip stretches or core work.

The pattern: Stressed → Clench jaw → Head forward → Pelvis compensates → Chronic pain

Most people treat the pelvis or lower back. But the trigger is higher up - in the jaw.

Fix the jaw tension, and the pelvic compensation often releases automatically.

A very interesting read!

I was listening to BBC Radio 2's Jeremy Vine Show today, where Jeremy was joined by the fantastic Dr Sarah Jarvis to discuss injuries sustained in Pilates and Yoga classes.

They talked about everything from hip replacements dislocating, neck injuries, people falling off Reformers, and even a herniated diaphragm-all happening in Yoga and Pilates classes!!

It serves as an important reminder that choosing the right teacher matters.

The titles "Pilates teacher" and "Yoga teacher" are not protected, which means anyone can call themselves an instructor, regardless of their training or experience.

As a Clinical Pilates teacher, every new client completes a detailed health screening questionnaire before joining a class. This helps identify any existing medical conditions, injuries or concerns so that exercises can be modified or progressed appropriately for each individual.

That's what safe, effective teaching looks like. Pilates should be accessible to everyone, but it should also be taught responsibly.

If you're thinking of starting Pilates or Yoga, don't be afraid to ask your teacher:

✔️ What qualifications do you have?
✔️ Do you screen clients before they start?
✔️ Can you adapt exercises for injuries or medical conditions?

Your health is worth those questions.
You can catch the discussion on BBC Sounds—it's well worth a listen.

One final thought... I did have to smile (and cringe a little!) when Jeremy said the difference between Yoga and Pilates is that "Pilates is just Yoga for middle-aged rich people!" As both disciplines have their own unique history, principles and benefits, I think practitioners and participants of both would have something to say about that! 😊

Brazilian lymphatic contouring (sometimes called Brazilian lymphatic drainage massage or Brazilian body contouring massage) is a massage technique that combines traditional manual lymphatic drainage with more vigorous sculpting and shaping movements intended to create a temporarily more defined appearance.

How it differs from traditional lymphatic drainage

Traditional manual lymphatic drainage (MLD):

* Very gentle, light-pressure movements
* Focuses on encouraging lymph fluid movement
* Often used for lymphedema or post-surgical swelling

Brazilian lymphatic contouring:

* Uses firmer pressure and sculpting strokes
* Aims to reduce temporary fluid retention and emphasize natural body contours
* Often marketed for a flatter abdomen, more defined waistline, or reduced puffiness

What it can do

* Reduce temporary bloating or water retention
* Make some areas look less puffy
* Promote relaxation
* Provide a temporary “sculpted” appearance for some people

What it cannot do

* Permanently remove fat
* Cause significant weight loss
* Cure medical conditions
* Permanently reshape the body

Any visible contouring effect is usually due to changes in fluid distribution and reduced swelling, rather than loss of fat tissue.
