It’s time to train properly. I've just dropped the 6-Week Hybrid Met-Con Protocol. This isn't another generic, copy-paste PDF filled with mindless volume until your joints scream. It’s a deliberate system of structural balance, brutal time-under-tension, and sustainable conditioning built specifically for active over-30s.

The goal? Build a serious engine and a robust body without waking up feeling like you've been in a car crash.

Whether you're running the loaded track with a kettlebell in the garage or the strict calisthenics track on the road, it's designed to make you injury-resistant and dangerously capable.

Stop guessing. Start building.

remember being 20? you could walk into a freezing cold gym, instantly load up 100kg on the bench press, smash out 10 reps, and feel absolutely fine.

try that at 40 and your shoulder will violently eject itself from your body.

the reality of being an active bloke over 30 is that your warm-up usually starts to take longer than your actual workout. you end up doing 30 minutes of rolling around on the floor just to feel human enough to pick up a kettlebell.

it doesn't have to be like that.

doing an hour of random, static stretching is a massive waste of your time. you just need 5 to 10 minutes of targeted, dynamic flow to lubricate the joints and tell your nervous system you are about to move heavy things.

get in, un-glue the joints, get the work done, get out.

it is the ultimate irony of being a fit guy over 30.

you can survive brutal muay thai sparring sessions. you can deadlift heavy steel. you can graft on a site for 10 hours a day without complaining.

but the second you bend over to pick up a dropped spanner or your kid's shoe from the floor... BANG. your lower back completely goes.

why does your body survive the extreme stuff but fail at picking up a sock?

because when you lift heavy, you consciously brace your core. when you reach for a dropped spanner, your guard is down. and if your hips and hamstrings are completely locked up from years of mileage, your lower back is forced to do a violent, twisting stretch it wasn't designed for.

you don't throw your back out because the spanner is heavy. you throw it out because your baseline mobility is trash.

fix the hips, save the back.

if you lift heavy, work on the tools, or do any kind of combat sports, your grip is constantly engaged.

after a few years, the muscles in your forearms get completely glued short. because they attach right at the elbow, they start constantly pulling on the joint. everyone immediately panics and thinks they've got permanent "tennis elbow" or severe joint damage.

i've got a loose piece of bone floating in my right elbow right now awaiting surgery. i know exactly what actual structural damage feels like.

but 9 times out of 10, your elbow isn't broken. your forearm is just locked solid and yanking the joint out of place.

you can’t fix a mechanical problem by swallowing ibuprofen and hoping it goes away. you have to release the tight tissues and restore the range of motion.

At what age did it start for you? That involuntary "hup!" when you get out of a deep armchair, or the symphony of clicks and pops when you walk down the stairs first thing in the morning?

In the UK, we’re taught to just "keep calm and carry on" with the aches, but those noises are actually your body’s way of letting you know the chassis is running a bit dry. You aren't actually getting old—your software is just overdue for a maintenance update.

Mobility isn't a chore; it’s the oil in the hinges that stops the grinding. Let’s hear it: what’s the loudest joint in your body right now? Drop your warning light in the comments.

There is a specific type of stubbornness that hits us once we get past 30. It’s the "I don't need help moving that heavy box" or "I can definitely still sprint for that closing train door" mentality.

The spirit is willing, but the hamstrings are usually singing a completely different tune. We’ve all been there—spending three days walking like a penguin because we forgot that we aren't made of rubber anymore.

This is exactly why functional mobility is king. It’s not about being able to do the splits; it’s about having the capacity to do everyday things without paying for it for a fortnight. Stay supple, stay stubborn, just maybe prime the joints first.

Ever wonder why you could bounce back from a brutal workout in your twenties after four hours of sleep, but now you wake up feeling like a rusty garage door?

It’s because the "night shift" in your body has gone lazy.

When we sleep, our body is supposed to run a massive repair cycle—pumping out the natural signals that fix muscles, burn fat, and keep joints greased. But past 30, that system falls asleep on the job.

In the biohacking world, we look at the combination of CJC-1295 and Ipamorelin. Think of them as a double alarm clock for your recovery system. One flips the master power switch, and the other takes the handbrake off. Together, they signal your body to wake up and start running its youthful repair software again while you sleep.
