Our volunteer, Esther, is a bit of an expert on AAC. She offers training to people supporting non-speaking children on how to use AAC, and is always happy to share her lived experience with any parents curious about starting to use AAC with their child. Its not just for non-speaking children - it can benefit lots of young people who struggle to communicate via speech even if they are fluent speakers. If you would like to hear more from Esther, you can email [email protected]

Sorting out some of our stuff before group is back tomorrow - I wish I was the tidy kind of autist instead of the very messy dyspraxic kind 😖 can't wait to see everyone tomorrow, we have some new train track, a microscope, pluffle (you'll see what that is tomorrow!), and a few other bits!

The summer holidays are nearly over! We made it! I holidays aren't so different to term time for our home ed gang, but at least most of your regular groups will be back in the next couple of weeks including ours - join us on Tuesday 8th September for a play session for autistic and ADHD children who aren't in school for any reason.

Just a low demand space to socialise, play, and just 'be' without judgement or pressure to interact or do things in a certain way.

I've got a few new toys and things to do, and looking forward to seeing everyone again!

Open to book on Eventbrite, along with our October Hawkinge Like Minded play session (none in September due to start of school being too stressful for me!).

Remember that our adult groups are paused until 2027 while I take some time to restructure the charity and its services a little bit to make it more sustainable.

Eventbrite brings people together through live experiences. Discover events that match your passions, or create your own with online ticketing tools.

My son has really enjoyed going to these sessions the last few weeks. They have lots of different consoles set up on the library computers with all sorts of old and new games. They also have loads of great toys - hot wheels, trains, Mario and minecraft bits, board games, fidgets and sensory items. It's a lovely space run by parents, and it's there every Saturday.

Our Minecraft Realm for autistic and ADHD children is ready to launch - do you want to be one of the first to try it?

We will be testing with a small group of children this Sunday afternoon: Sunday 23rd August, 4pm-5pm. Via Minecraft and Teams.

Email [email protected] if you would like to be in our initial test run! This will be 5 children max.

You need to be able to access a Bedrock realm, but you don't need your own Realms subscription.

Parents required to stay with their child throughout the session to supervise.

You will need to join Teams either on a different device in the same room, or on the same device, so we can check you are who you say you are initially, then you can be camera and mic off, but also if children want to chat and see each other, they are more than welcome to!

Perfect way for any gaming mad children to make friends!

We are finally getting our Minecraft Realm off the ground! Are any of our regular families who's primary age child likes to play Minecraft able to help with testing it out please? I'm currently stuck at the invite stage! Comment or drop me an email, thank you :)

• Days & Time: Weekly on Wednesdays, 7-9pm (although this can be adjusted slightly if the time is challenging for a lot of people that want to attend)
• End Date: Wednesday 9th December (note there will be no session in the October half term)
• For: Parents of children of school age (4-18) who exhibit behaviours associated with very high levels of distress
• Location: Online (may be MS Teams or Zoom)
