February was another busy month for your team at Four Elms! Please note that we are still experiencing nearly 5% of appointments where patients do not attend - this means that the appointment cannot be allocated to another patient who needs it and leads to wasted time for our clinicians.

Please help us to manage this better by advising us if you are not able to attend your appointment, this time can then be given to another patient.

Eligible for the flu vaccine but still not found time to have it or don't think it's important??

With the warnings of a potentially severe strain of flu this winter, we are strongly advising all patients who are eligible to get their seasonal flu vaccine to book their appointment and get covered

Please note the number of DNA (Did not attend) appointments which are lost due to patients not cancelling or advising us they are unable to attend. This means the appointment cannot be allocated to another patient and is wasted.

Please ensure that if you are unable to attend an appointment that you call the surgery so it can be allocated to another patient!

Flu Vaccination Reminder!

To all eligible patients, we are running a dedicated flu clinic on Saturday 11th October at Pengam Green.

To book your appointment please call the surgery on 02920 030540 after 11am, alternatively we will be offering walk in appointments on that day and other clinic times are available.

On September 23rd 2025 we will be going-live with our electronic prescription service, in partnership with .

What does this mean for me?

👉Faster, reliable transfer of prescriptions from GP to Pharmacy

👉Ability to track prescriptions via the NHS Wales app

👉No more green prescriptions routinely, however, will always be available as a backup

Please order your prescription going forward in the same way as you have previously done, either via NHS Wales app, in person in either of our branches or via your nominated pharmacy.

If you have not been contacted by your local pharmacy yet, please get in touch to nominate them ready for next week.

Flu season is nearly upon us!

We will be holding flu clinics from 1st October. We encourage all eligible patients to book their flu vaccine as soon as possible.

Are you eligible?
Children aged 2-3 years (nasal spray)
Are you aged 65 or over by 31st March 2026 (ie born before 1st April 1961)?
Are you under 65 but in an at risk group such as COPD, diabetes, epilepsy?
Are you pregnant?
Are you a carer or frontline health and social care worker?

If you are unsure then please contact the surgery or check the NHS Wales website for advice.

We will also be holding a dedicated flu clinic on 11th October at Pengam Green for appointments and walk ins from 9am - 1pm.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are limiting our appointments today to deal with urgent requests only, this is due to limited GP availability.
We are sorry for any inconvenience, but this may also lead to higher than normal wait times when calling.
