Calling all freshers! Make sure getting both doses of your MenB vaccine is on your to-do list if you’re eligible.

You are eligible if:
- you were born between 01/09/2007 and 31/08/2008, or
- you were born on or after 21/07/2001 and are attending higher education or residential further education for the first time from Autumn 2026

The second dose of the MenB vaccine is recommended at least 28 days after the first dose to give you the best protection against MenB infection.

What is a learning disability annual health check?

An annual health check is an appointment when you meet your GP to

You can have an annual health check if you are over 18 years old and your GP knows you have a learning disability.

UPDATE: Cadog Ward, which was temporarily closed due to an outbreak of scabies, has now reopened.

Two wards at Glangwili Hospital are currently temporarily closed to admissions and visitors due to separate outbreaks of infectious conditions.
Steffan Ward Glangwili is managing an outbreak of influenza (flu) and Cadog Ward is managing an outbreak of scabies.
The health, safety and wellbeing of our patients, visitors and staff is our priority. We are following national guidance and have taken additional steps to reduce the risk of infection spreading.
Our Infection Prevention and Control Team is working closely with ward teams and hospital management to minimise any impact on services and to prevent further spread with reviews planned for next week to assess when the wards can reopen.

• Please being your own food and drink as this is not provided. There is a café next to the theatre.

If you have any needs, please let us know when you call or when you arrive.
We will also have events in Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire before the end of the year. These will be advertised soon.

The loss of a baby is overwhelming and emotional. Baby Loss Awareness Week (9-15 October) is an annual event to recognise and remember babies loved and lost.

A series of remembrance events will be held across the Hywel Dda, offering bereaved parents, families and friends a safe and compassionate space to come together, reflect, and celebrate the lives of babies who will always be remembered.

Patients, residents and community stakeholders are invited to drop in to our engagement event between 2pm and 7pm on Wednesday 23 September at St Davids City Hall (SA62 6SD).

This event is an opportunity to share your views on the future of nurse-led services at the branch surgery of Meddygfa Penrhyn in St Davids.

The engagement follows an application from Meddygfa Penrhyn to discontinue branch services in St Davids. The practice has advised that delivering services from a single site in Solva would help provide more integrated care for patients, with GPs, nurses and administrative staff working together in one location.

At the same time, the current premises at Shalom House will no longer be available from 30 September due to the sale of the building and no suitable alternative premises have yet been identified.

No decision has been made about continuing branch surgery services in St Davids and we’re keen to hear from patients, carers and local residents before any recommendations are considered.

The engagement period will run until Friday 16 October and we are writing to all patients to provide paper copies of the questionnaire.
