Come along to the official launch of Blanced Hywel / Hywel’s Blanket at 5pm on Wednesday, 5 August at the Education Room of Y Lle Celf at Eisteddfod Y Garreg Las, Llantwd.

Hundreds of stories, experiences and acts of care have been woven into Blanced Hywel, a striking large-scale artwork created by our health board staff.

Led by textile artist Llio James, a series of workshops were held across Hywel Dda sites where staff were invited to create individual yarn wraps using recycled NHS blister-pill packs collected by Pharmacy teams and yarn remnants donated by Pembrokeshire woollen mill, Melin Tregwynt.

The artwork has been specially commissioned for display at this year’s Eisteddfod y Garreg Las in Llantwd, north Pembrokeshire, before being permanently housed within a Hywel Dda site.

Excitement on the field

Our stand was buzzing this afternoon as we welcomed Nerys Evans, Deputy Minister for Public and Preventative Health to the Hywel Dda University Health Board stand for a chat!

It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the amazing work happening across Hywel Dda, chat about the importance of health and wellbeing in our communities, and celebrate everything that makes West Wales so special.

Another great day at the Eisteddfod!

We’ve had loads of visitors, including some aspiring young doctors, former first minister Mark Drakeford, and John Davies, Chair of the Eisteddfod Executive Committee.

Our very own Dr Sion James gave a talk on diabetes in the afternoon and the Heart Failure Team tested another 150 visitors on the Maes. And we put our staff in the frame!

Looking forward to tomorrow as we welcome the Gorsedd to the first ceremony of the week - the Crowning ceremony.

Well! What a start to Steddfod Llantwd. We’ve had visitors from all over Wales and some from America and Canada. We’ve had clog dancing with Tudur and more than 100 people have had their blood pressure checked. Can’t wait until tomorrow. Here are some photos to capture the day 😀☀️😎
