What a good start to the week with an exercise session hosted by Rise.Life in our Mountbatten Community. Residents from Mountbatten were invited to attend the session; as they headed to the communal sitting room, there was fun with target games and catch. The residents seemed to enjoy the morning.

A thank you from the Alzheimer's Society. The cheque sent to the charity represents the amount raised on that day.

Residents seemed delighted and excited with a visit from Blackwater Alpaca and Pygmy Goats. The invite was spread across the site; however, the base was in Jellicoe and Drake. Such a lovely sight to see, with happy faces from the residents. A few residents were fortunate enough to have the goats visit them in their bedrooms, which was a surprise to them. Of course, the staff had to get in on the fur-apy.

One naughty goat did have a slight accident on someone but was soon cleared up, and the goat was forgiven.

This is such a positive reason for animal therapy, for it provides emotional support and stress reduction.

Carrying on from the Memory Walk on Friday, 28th August, in the afternoon, we enjoyed entertainment in our Drake community from Brian Shaw. With family and friends remaining from the walk in the morning, everyone seemed to really enjoy the afternoon, with singing and dancing.

Although donations are still coming in, we are very happy to say we have so far raised £1,200.00 for the Alzheimer's Society.

Thank you to everyone that came along for today's walk. Wonderful the weather was on our side.

We have some amazing news. Although we are still counting up the wonderful donations received (and still coming through), we just thought it would be a lovely idea to show the so far total:

JustGiving = £555
Donations from today = £185.50
Donations raised from a family member of a resident, which is just incredible = £400

So in total £1,140.50

(Due to GDPR and not being able to obtain consent from all the family members that joined the walk, we are unable to share photographs on Social Media. Photographs will soon be available in the communities.)
