Inspire - Rewire: Retreats, Workshops, Keynote Permission to press pause! Early in my career, I stepped into leadership without the support I needed and found myself in burnout. What's the opposite?

Global Keynotes on Leadership Psychology & Burnout | Retreats - 90+ designed & led | Retreat Partnering, Training & Mentoring | UK & UAE That experience sparked a fire in me: that I would not let circumstances, or my own mindset, or gaps in learning become a barrier. I went on to create learning cultures where people are not just developed - but genuinely supported through change, growth, and pres

sure, while achieving high impact bottom line business results without burning out. I’ve since worked with brands like Airbus, PwC, Merck, LG, Chalhoub, Tate & Lyle, scaling award-winning teams and sprinkling a little humanity into corporate. I went on to run my own business for 10 years (Inspire – Rewire) helping others with the same through coaching/hypnotherapy and group support such as running leadership retreats and leading wellbeing events. That doesn't mean there are not times I also feel self-doubt but I ask myself if it's compassion I need, or action to fill a gap? Either way - I don't stay stuck. It's not just inside of the mind where we 'do the work' on this, but in the small sutble day to day actions. Overthinking and hoping.... staying stuck. With that in mind, my aim is to help you to remove those pesky obstacles - to become the master of your mind and live the life you truly deserve. We help online and in-person events both in the UK and UAE. Get in touch if you'd like a personalised hypnotherapy recording to rewire those doubts. Or if you're interested in group workshops, retreats or webinars. Developed by the founder of Inspire - Rewire: Nic Wagstaff

What I do:

I give you permission to press pause. I help to inspire and rewire busy, stressed and run down professionals who are often unconsciously self-sabotaging their lives! From healing from the disease of 1000 names ‘Adrenaline Fatigue’ to identifying those niggling feelings that something's just not right, I open people’s eyes to anxiety; it’s symptoms, impact and red flags to remind people to press pause before it becomes an intrinsic part of their life, and when it's already gone too far I help free people from their despair. I do this because I have been that high achiever, unstoppable superwoman and suffered the devastating consequences and am passionate about using my unique combination of skills; corporate background as Group Head of Learning and Development, well-being practitioner, and most importantly personal experience, to help reverse the growing trend of burnout and instead create more peace and balance in our lives. You can be successful without burnout.

Snapping at small things? Or really biting your tongue.
We all do it. It doesn’t make you a bad person, it usually means your bandwidth is low.

When your system is stretched, even tiny triggers feel bigger than they are. It’s not a character flaw. It’s your nervous system signalling that it’s running thin.

If you catch yourself snapping at the small stuff, pause and ask:
“What state am I in right now?”

You don’t need to get into the whole story of it, just name the state. Become aware.

As you head into the weekend, give yourself a moment to reflect or simply observe what’s going on underneath. A small pause can reset your system more than you think.

There’s a moment on a long training course where everyone else is pushing through… and you’re the only one visibly resting.

It can feel like you’re missing out, but often, it’s the most strategic thing you can do.

I’ve been on an intensive in‑person course this week, and it reminded me how much you have to manage your own energy when you’re the learner, not just the facilitator.

Some programmes simply don’t build in strategic pauses or reflection time. They run long days, heavy content and constant interaction. You’re getting the absolute best from your facilitator and this is great but if you don’t pace yourself, you burn through your bandwidth fast.

So I did what I needed to do.

I didn’t join every networking opportunity.
I rested on my bed during some breaks.
I gently stepped out of a conversation that was draining me.
I realised I hadn’t been outside for two days so I forced myself to get fresh air whenever I could.
I chose the protein based food
And I still connected, contributed, and grew.

This is where the pause and the push come in.

I talk a lot about the pause but I also talk about balancing the push. There are moments where you need to push through to an extent.

The key is knowing yourself well enough to recognise your limits, and knowing whether you’ve got buffer time before or after the event to recover. That’s strategic time management. That’s strategic energy management.

You don’t have to attend everything to get value.
You don’t have to be “on” every minute to grow.
You’re allowed to rest, reset, and miss out (deliberately) so you can stay fully present where it counts.

It’s a marathon, not a sprint. This is something I’ve learned the hard way. To stop the urgency feeling and actually enjoy the process.

We rush because of competition, self imposed deadlines (or by others), a sense of achievement and success.

But what about when we reach it? Won’t we have another goal we want? Isn’t that human nature?

So then, why not assume that you have that success already and instead of the rushing feeling, you have the calm inner knowing, abundance and gratitude that comes with already being successful.

Keeping going and pushing through doesn’t mean never stopping. It just means not giving up completely. Therefore of course there are going to be pauses in that rhythm.

Remember there are peaks and troughs in a progress curve. It comes with recognizing this and being ok with that.

Therefore the balance of the pause and the push becomes more about the end goal. It becomes also about how to enjoy life while doing it. And it makes those forced pauses like a dry season or a set back personally more easy to swallow.

Because there will always be something else to chase and aim for.

What’s the point of spending 15 more years pushing hard with the hope to relax when ‘you’ve made it’?

Can you see my point?

What are your thoughts?

It’s all about the balance between the pause and the push. Sometimes those pauses are forced but we also need to take the ones we know will in fact elevate us forward.

The pause isn’t necessarily a break. It’s a shift in consciousness.

Most people think pausing means stopping. Resting. Taking time out. It can mean that...

But the pause can also mean stepping in - into awareness, into choice and self‑mastery.

The pause is the moment your consciousness shifts from automatic to intentional.

From being reactive into leadership.

Because before every behaviour, there’s a micro‑moment where you can choose differently.

What actually shifts in the pause

• Self-awareness - You notice the pattern you were about to repeat.

• Cognitive control - You interrupt the autopilot response.

• Emotional regulation - You downshift the nervous system before it sets the tone for others.

• Identity mastery - You choose the leader you intend to be, not the one your stress defaults to.

Why this matters

Under pressure, the brain defaults to speed, protection, and habit.

Without conscious interruption, leaders repeat yesterday’s patterns, even when those patterns no longer serve them.

The pause creates a micro‑window where you can shift from:

• threat → perspective

• urgency → clarity

• ego → service

• reaction → response

These are not wellbeing tactics, they are consciousness upgrades.

Identity doesn’t change in the big moments.
It changes in the micro‑moments where you choose differently:

“I don’t rush this time.”

“I don’t react from fear.”

“I don’t override my signals.”

“I don’t abandon my values for speed.”

This is self‑mastery in motion.

Where in your leadership do you need a consciousness shift rather than a break?
