Yoga with Ryan Dixon

Yoga with Ryan Dixon Offering courses, events and workshops in Yoga. I teach postural yoga, breath practices and deep meditative relaxation. Certified Irest® Meditation Teacher.

I love meeting people from all walks of life and aim to make these sessions accessible for all. Offering Yoga Courses, private lessons and retreats. I completed the Mandala Yoga Ashrams Comprehensive 500 hour Teacher Training in 2014 which gave me a good grounding in teaching Asana, Pranayama and Meditation. It put me in good stead for delivering and managing Yoga Courses independently and from a

place of authenticity since August 2013. Yoga is something that has interested me since I was in my early 20’s when I realised that my body was not invincible. I started to appreciate the joy of taking time to nurture my body through slow focused movement practices and breath centred Yoga. I sought out a local Yoga Teacher whilst living in Manchester and have never looked back. I aim to teach Yoga in a person centred way and will aim to guide new students towards the course which suits them best depending on their needs. Participants in any of the courses that I run will testify that whilst immersing yourself into the wonderful practices we refer to as Yoga, they will also experience a great sense of community.

A reminder that I've had to cancel Yoga classes on 9th and 10th July. These will take place on 30th/ 31st July instead :)

This is perhaps one of the easiest Yoga practices other than lying down in a relaxation posture. A breathing practice where all you need to do is observe and notice the movements that come with your natural breath. If you have a go, let me know how it is :)

We've just completed week 3 of the current 8 week Yoga Courses. Well done to all who have participated - I hope all the practices are making sense and you're managing to do a bit at home :)

After a rather busy week, I have had quite a relaxing evening tonight and enjoyed sitting outside while it was dry enough and watching a stunning sunset. Not quite a salutation to the sun that I was practicing but definitely an appreciation of it :)

An enjoyable week teaching Yoga at the The Sanctuary Of Healing, Langho, Blackburn as we have reached the end of week 4 of our 6week courses.

No class photos this week, so here are a couple of quick snaps from this morning.

I have enjoyed introducing the group the Kleshas this week as we have continued to explore the Yoga Sutras as a context for practice. To put it briefly these can be considered obstacles that may get in the way of practice and have been instrumental in guiding my own practice and meditation. Useful pointers towards self reflection although not necessarily comfortable!! We'll delve into them further next week!!!

Well done to all who participated :)

That is week 3 completed of the current 5 week Yoga course.

I have enjoyed discussing the Niyamas this term and adding a reflective layer to our Breath work, posture practice and Meditation. This week we were covering Tapas and reflecting on inner fire/discipline/ courage - whether it is the courage to change what needs to be changed, to take action when it is needed, to say yes, to say no… and also the courage to show up on your yoga mat and practice :)

I did walk out of todays class thinking about the Lion from wizard of Oz, so for a bit of fun here is his take on courage :)

What makes the muskrat guard his musk? Courage! This classic bit from the Wizard of Oz is one of my favorites!

Well we've just completed week 3 of the current 8 week Yoga courses at The Sanctuary Of Healing, Langho, Blackburn. It has been a pleasure to observe how engaged the participants have been with all of the practices.

We've started off well, deepening our breathwork practices to include the wonderful 4 part breath which can help us to address current breathing habits and, for some, can open up possibilities for breathing with more ease, freedom and space. We've also been continuing with a series of moving sequences and postural practices which are grounded in movement science and somatics. These include spinal movements, dynamic balances and leg strengthening practices , all of which can be adapted to suit different bodies with varying states of stiffness and freedom 😁

I hope your home practice goes well and I look forward to seeing some of you next week 🙂
