β˜€οΈπŸ”₯ HEATWAVE IN THE UK – PLEASE TAKE CARE! πŸ”₯β˜€οΈ

The hot weather can be enjoyable, but extreme heat can also be dangerous. It can lead to dehydration, heat exhaustion and heatstroke, particularly in older people, babies and young children, people with long-term health conditions, and those who live alone.

πŸ’§ STAY HYDRATED – drink plenty of cool fluids regularly.
🏠 KEEP YOUR HOME COOL – close curtains and blinds during the day and open windows when it is cooler outside.
🌀️ AVOID THE HOTTEST PART OF THE DAY – try to stay out of direct sunlight between 11am and 3pm.
πŸ‘’ PROTECT YOURSELF – wear loose, light clothing, a hat and sunscreen of at least SPF30.
πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ TAKE IT EASY – avoid strenuous exercise during the hottest hours.
❀️ CHECK ON OTHERS – especially older relatives, neighbours, babies and anyone living alone.

⚠️ LOOK OUT FOR HEAT EXHAUSTION: headache, dizziness, feeling sick, heavy sweating, weakness, cramps, thirst or a fast heartbeat.

🚨 HEATSTROKE IS AN EMERGENCY. If someone becomes confused, has a seizure, loses consciousness, has very hot skin or remains seriously unwell after being cooled for 30 minutes, call 999. For heat exhaustion that you are struggling to treat or if you need medical advice, contact NHS 111.

πŸ’™ Please look after yourself and each other during the hot weather.

πŸ’š Your Mental Health Matters πŸ’š

Life can feel overwhelming at times, and it's okay if you're not feeling okay. Looking after your mental health is just as important as looking after your physical health.

Here are a few simple ways to support your wellbeing:
🌿 Take a short walk or get some fresh air.
πŸ’¬ Talk to someone you trust.
😴 Aim for a good night's sleep.
🍎 Eat regular, nourishing meals and stay hydrated.
🧘 Make time for something you enjoy, even if it's only for a few minutes.

Remember, asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. You don't have to face difficult times alone.

If you're struggling with your mental health, please speak to a member of our team. We're here to listen and help you find the right support.

πŸ’š Be kind to yourself, and be kind to others – you never know what someone else may be going through.

🌑️ It’s a hot one this week, especially in parts of England and Wales with the red weather warning.

Some mental health medications can affect how your body handles heat, raising the risk of dehydration or overheating.
