You know when you can see that something is about to happen and you can see it unfolding in slow motion before it actually happens?
Well, the other night I was cycling home and I could see this scooter veering over onto my side of the street. She was on her phone – on a VIDEO CALL would you believe??!! I went further over to the left, I actually stopped and she crashed right into my leg.
It hurt. Like, really hurt! 😖
Here are three things I’m taking from it to make my own life better (because we’ve always gotta look for the silver linings!)
1 – Forgiveness. I don’t even think she was particularly sorry. But I forgive her anyway. Because forgiveness is not really about the other person. It’s about you choosing to let go of any bitterness or resentment. Forgiving her made me feel lighter.
2 – Adaptability. I haven’t been able to teach any Yoga poses on the knees. It’s made my classes since more experimental. It’s prevented me from teaching the same things over & over. It’s made me a better teacher.
3 – Love & support. When I got home, I was a bit shaken up. I was bruised and bleeding and had tears in my eyes. My husband jumped up, he was angry on my behalf (always feels kinda nice when someone is angry on your behalf doesn’t it?!) and he just took care of me. I felt so loved and so safe and so supported. It reminded me how loved and safe I truly am.
So yes, my knee is still sore. But my heart is full and my life is good. 🤍
