Is Radiesse overrated? In short, no. But there’s one important caveat worth understanding before you consider it.
Radiesse is a calcium hydroxyapatite treatment that’s been around for decades, and the reason it has stood the test of time is straightforward. It works. It’s particularly effective at restoring structure and definition within the face, the longevity is impressive compared to many other options, and beyond its filling properties it also stimulates collagen production over time, meaning the result can continue to improve in the weeks and months after treatment.
More recently the option to use it in a hyper-diluted form has expanded what it can do, allowing it to be used in a more bio-stimulatory way across larger areas to improve skin quality, texture, and laxity rather than just restoring volume and structure.
Unlike hyaluronic acid filler, Radiesse cannot be dissolved. If a complication arises, or the product doesn’t integrate quite as expected, the recourse is limited and time is often the only solution. For most patients in the right hands this is rarely an issue, but it’s an honest part of the conversation that should happen before any treatment decision is made.
As with any injectable treatment, choosing the right practitioner with the right level of experience and knowledge of the product is what determines the outcome.
