"Adventurous Baby Yoga" is for the active and curious babes, and their mums or other adults. These sessions involve more adventurous baby movements (to songs and rhymes) than the other baby session. We know they won't lay still for massage or stretches. Instead there is swinging, rolling, throwing and jumping!

Adults can be more adventurous too. This doesn't mean acrobatics! But just that we can move around more, as babies tend to be more secure and exploring themselves, I hand out some toys too. We stretch out those tight shoulders, achy muscles, and revitalise the body and mind.

I recommend from 6 to 18 months, or sitting/mobile.

Mindful movement together is at the heart of Family Yoga. Come along with your child/children and explore postures and breathing, being present with one another. No distractions just nature around us.

This is a photo from a few years ago, I think we can safely say the grass is not going to be that colour this year!

The kind words at the end of last term made me well up. There were many reflections on the positives of the class, from feeling better physically, sleep, feeling mentally prepared for birth and baby. Feeling welcome and being able to take part in something they didn't think they could do! Building a friendship group.

Here's one of the recent reviews that puts it beautifully, thank you ❀

"I started pregnancy yoga with Amber at 14 weeks and have attended weekly until 33 weeks pregnant. It has really made my pregnancy journey. I always look forward to my Tuesday night yoga to be able to ground myself, move my body in the right way, bond with my baby, make friends and learn from the other amazing ladies’ experiences. Amber is so lovely, welcoming, calm and supportive with all the physical and mental challenges that come with pregnancy. I feel confident and positive about the birth of my baby and I owe a lot of that to Amber!"

Yoga is as effective as psychological therapy for depression in pregnancy, according to research by Kind College London. They analysed studies on treatment of depression during pregnancy, which affects an estimated 28.5% of pregnant people worldwide.

This is not news to me - I know from my own experience and working with hundreds of women, that yoga can help with mood as well as physical symptoms. It helps sleep, which will again help alleviate depression. You can read the full article.

Baby and Postnatal Yoga outside is so lovely, it's gorgeous to make the most of the summer light and warmth. Connecting with nature by practising outdoors just adds another level to your practice.

The hardest thing about teaching, pregnancy and postnatal yoga? It's not the postures, the safety and adapting. It's not the babies that cry and need changing in class. It's not the discourse around birth right now.

It's the fact that however, much they love it, students have to move on. I get to know them, watch them grow and gain so much. Yes once their due date is here, babies crawl or mums return to work, there is no "returning customer".

It's been particularly so recently and I've felt especially sad this term. Women, I've got to know over the months, they have really enjoyed the sessions. And then it's time to say bye. They're not pregnant anymore or their babies grow up.

It is partly from a business perspective that it's hard because we always need new faces to fill classes. Right now it feels more on a personal and emotional perspective, sad to say goodbye. I am glad to have students in hatha classes who DO return, and I am grateful for them. ❀️ Also I know yoga teaches us not to hold on or to be too attached. So I will practice that, it's always a practice.
