We are fortunate to have a close-knit team of GPs, nurses, allied health professionals, administrative and

reception staff, who are all dedicated to providing the best possible service for our community. Patients are at the heart of what we do and we couldn’t do it without our extensive team. We are lucky to have so many experienced and long serving colleagues, plus newer staff who are committed to a career in Primary Care. We have an experienced management team who deal with the daily running of our practices and our patient service advisors are here to help whether you have a medical concern or administrative query. We also have productive working relationships with the Integrated Care Board and Care Quality Commission and make improvements as and where we can. As well as our daily work in surgeries we also work in the local community, making home visits, providing healthcare for residents in local care homes and offer advice and support on lifestyle and non-clinical issues with our Personalised Care Team of care coordinators and social prescribers. Dear Patients,

We were told at short notice that our original flu vaccine order would not be fulfilled as planned. This is due to a national manufacturing and supply issue across the country.

Our flu vaccination clinics are planned well in advance, including ordering the vaccines we need. Being told at short notice that our original order could not be supplied has meant we have had to change our planned clinic dates.

We know many patients will already have seen information about our planned flu clinics, so we wanted to let you know about the changes as soon as possible.

Our team has acted quickly and worked with vaccine suppliers and NHS partners to secure replacement flu vaccines.

We have now secured replacement stock. However, the vaccines will arrive later than originally planned.

Our new flu vaccination clinics will take place at Lakeside Surgery, Cottingham Road, on:
• Saturday 17 October 2026
• Saturday 24 October 2026
• Saturday 31 October 2026

Our new vaccination clinic at Brigstock Surgery will take place on Monday 19 October 2026, from 8.30am to 12.30pm.

If you have already booked an appointment on a clinic date, that has now been postponed. You do not need to contact the practice to rebook. Your appointment will be automatically moved, and you will be notified about the new clinic date.

You only need to contact us if you are unable to attend the new appointment date and would like to rearrange your appointment.

If you wish to cancel your appointment without rebooking, please call the surgery on 01536 204154 and press option 4 to cancel an appointment.

We are sorry for any inconvenience these changes may cause. Thank you for your patience and understanding while our team has worked to secure replacement vaccines and put new clinic arrangements in place.

Kind regards,

Lakeside Healthcare Corby and Brigstock Surgeries Team

Has your child missed a vaccination?

Appointments can be missed for many reasons, but it is not too late for your child to catch up before school starts.

Your child will not usually need to begin their vaccinations again. They can receive the doses they have missed to help make sure they have the best possible protection.

Vaccinations do not only protect your child. They also help protect their family, classmates and other people in the community, including children who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons.

Check your child’s Red Book or contact the practice if you are unsure whether their vaccinations are up to date. Our team can check their record and let you know whether they need an appointment.

You are up to three times more likely to quit successfully with the right support.

The free NHS Quit Smoking app can help you create a plan, track your progress and stay motivated.

Download the app and find more support: https://www.nhs.uk/better-health/quit-smoking/

During our opening hours, you can use the NHS App to send us a non-urgent medical or admin request through Anima. From the home screen:

• Select Appointments.
• Select Book an appointment.
• Select Ask about a health problem (Provided by Anima).
• Follow the on-screen steps to send your request.

Although this option appears under Book an appointment, you are not booking an appointment directly. It is another way to send us an Anima request, in the same way as using Anima through our website, calling us or speaking to our reception team.

Whichever route you use, your request will be recorded in Anima and reviewed by our triage team.

Please use one route only for each issue. There is no need to send the same request through the NHS App, our website, by phone or at reception.

Find out more about the changes and how to use the NHS App on our website. You’ll find the link at the top of our page.

Hot weather can affect anyone, so it’s important to know how to keep yourself and others safe.

When temperatures rise:
▪️avoid the sun when it is strongest, usually between 11am and 3p
▪️use high-protection sunscreen, wear a wide-brimmed hat and seek shade
▪️keep your home as cool as you can by closing curtains and windows in sunny rooms
▪️during the day, then opening windows when it is cooler outside
▪️avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day
▪️wear loose, light-coloured clothing
▪️drink regularly throughout the day and don’t wait until you feel thirsty
▪️check on family, friends and neighbours who may be more at risk in hot weather

For more advice on keeping cool and staying well during hot weather, read the UK Health Security Agency blog:

Children are usually offered a 4-in-1 pre-school booster at around 3 years and 4 months old.

This vaccination boosts the protection they received from earlier vaccinations against:
• Diphtheria
• Tetanus
• Whooping cough
• Polio

Protection from vaccinations given when children are babies can reduce over time. The pre-school booster reminds their immune system how to fight these infections and helps protect them as they start school.

Check your child’s Red Book or vaccination record before the new school term begins.

Please contact the practice if you are unsure whether your child has received their pre-school booster.
