You won't believe this!
I was coaching a guy last week and he said:
(these were his exact words!)
"I've always fancied being a journalist, but I'm 42 now and I'm too old!"
F**k me!
42!!??
I felt like head butting the wall, and then head butting him!😆
So.
Please.
If you're having similar thoughts.
Please understand.
42 is NOTHING.
AT 42 YOU ARE STILL A BABY!!!!
Don't believe me?
Try this exercise:
Think back.
What is your EARLIEST memory?
What is the VERY first thing you can EVER remember doing?
Now.
If you sit and think about it for a moment.
You will probably be able to remember something that happened when you were 4 or 5 years old.
(your first day at school for example)
The memory may be a bit vague.
But.
It will be there.
Now.
How long ago does that memory seem?
It probably seems like a million fu***ng years ago.
And.
When you think about all the other things that have happened in your life between then and now.
It's hard to describe how long ago that memory feels.
Now.
This is the important bit:
Think again about how long ago that memory seems.
And then consider this...
If you're now 42 years old now (or anywhere around there).
And you reach the average UK life expectancy of 86.
Then that means that you have MORE than your entire life (up to now) to live all over again.
So.
If that earliest memory seems like a million years ago.
Then that is the amount of time that you still have to go.
So.
Basically.
What I'm saying is:
"You have all the time in the world to go and do whatever the f**k you like."
Listen.
I'm 45 years old in April.
I'm in the process of building a health and fitness app.
And I'm still running people around my local park, putting them through their paces at my Bootcamp.
And.
Unless there was some kind of rule against it (like joining the military for example).
It wouldn't ever cross my mind that I was too old to do ANYTHING that I wanted to do.
So.
PLEASE.
Don't let your f**ked up perspective of age and time stop you.
Please go and do whatever it is that you REALLY want to do with your life.
Trust me.
If you don't.
I promise you that some day you will wish that you had.
ps - for your reference….
….the guy who launched Grey Goose vodka was 78 years old at the time 😳
