This is your reminder to take the video or take the photos of your birth! šŸ“¹

It might not be something you want to look at straight away but I really hope it is!

Giving birth is incredible and to be able to witness your own birth is something else! šŸ™Œ

If you want my opinion, I say do it - I’d rather have it and choose not to watch it or look at them, than not have them at all! I didn’t record my first birth and was honestly gutted, so this was a priority for my 2nd and I don’t regret it! Big thank you to for capturing these šŸ’•

Did you video or take photos of your birth? Or regret that you didn’t? Let me know in the comments āœŒļø

Things you think you can’t say no to in pregnancy but actually you really can!

āŒ You have to be induced

āŒ You have to have a sweep

āŒ You have to have vaginal examinations

āŒ You have to birth on your back

Knowing you have options and have the right to make an informed decision is key!

I’m not saying you must or should say no to all of these things but you should be aware that you can and before making a decision on whether to say yes or no, find out more!!

You shouldn’t just say okay, because they’re the professionals! The maternity system is governed by policies and guidelines, they do not look at your individual circumstances, so you need to!

Questions you can ask:

• Is this necessary?
• What are the benefits?
• What are the risks?
• What are the alternatives?
• What happens if I do nothing for now?

If you don’t realise you have choices, how can you make any??

Save this post for later, so you can remind yourself when these conversations start to come up! ✨

One of my lovely clients shared this after her birth.

Things didn’t go completely to plan but because she’d prepared with hypnobirthing, she stayed calm, made the right decisions for her and her baby and still had a positive birth experience.

This is why I always say it’s not just about Plan A. We create a birth plan but we also prepare for Plans B and C, so whatever happens, you feel informed, confident, and in control.

If you’re ready to prepare for birth with confidence, send me a DM with BIRTH 🫶

One of the biggest misconceptions about hypnobirthing is that it’s all about having a pain-free birth.

It isn’t.

Birth is hard work and every person’s experience is different.

Hypnobirthing isn’t about pretending labour won’t be intense. It’s about understanding what’s happening in your body, reducing fear where you can and learning practical tools to help you cope with labour, whatever path your birth takes.

šŸ’Œ If you’re pregnant and wondering whether hypnobirthing is right for you, my DMs are always open. I’d love to chat.

I never thought I’d say this but I couldn’t wait to give birth.

If you’d told me that at the beginning of my pregnancy, I would’ve laughed! I was soooo scared of birth.

I’d heard all the horror stories, seen the dramatic TV births and convinced myself it was going to be something to get through rather than something I could actually feel prepared or excited for.

Then I found hypnobirthing. Thank you to my big sister šŸ™

The more I learned, the more everything changed. It just made so much sense!

I understood what my body was doing, why fear plays such a big role in birth and most importantly, that I had choices.

By the end of my pregnancy, I wasn’t counting down the days with dread anymore, I was actually excited for the grand finale and to finally meet my baby.

It changed verything for me and that’s why I trained to become a hypnobirthing teacher!

It made me realise that every parent deserves to feel like this. Not because we can control birth but because being prepared changes how we experience it.

My absolute favourite part of what I do is watching the same transformation happen in the parents who come to my courses. They often walk through the door saying things like, ā€œI’m terrified.ā€

A few weeks later, they’re talking about birth with confidence, asking informed questions and feeling excited to meet their baby.

Watching that shift will never get old šŸ’›

If I can help even one person swap fear for confidence, then I know I’m doing exactly what I’m meant to be doing!

✨ If you’re feeling how I felt at the start of my pregnancy, send me a DM. I’d love to chat šŸ¤

Unpopular opinion: People will happily spend hundreds (or even thousands!) on a baby shower, decorating the nursery, the pram and all the baby bits but then say a hypnobirthing course is ā€œtoo expensive.ā€

People often ā€œforgetā€ or choose not to spend any time or money on preparing themselves for the birth! But why?? this is one of the biggest days of your lives! And feeling prepared can make a real difference to how you begin those first hours and days as parents!!

Birth prep isn’t about guaranteeing a ā€œperfectā€ birth. It’s about:

✨understanding your options
✨knowing how to advocate for yourself
✨learning how to navigate the maternity system
✨having practical tools to help you stay calm in labour

And most importantly walking into birth feeling informed and confident instead of terrified šŸ’Ŗ

Without preparation, it’s easy to get swept along by the maternity system. When you don’t know your options it’s so easy to just say ā€œyesā€ to every recommendation, but healthcare professionals are working within policies and guidelines and these recommendation’s may not always be what’s best for you as an individual!

Maybe it’s time we stopped treating birth preparation like a luxury šŸ™Œ

I overheard a conversation recently that really stuck with me...

Someone shared that they’d given birth without any pain relief and the other persons response was - What?! You didn’t have an epidural?!

It was genuine shock, with a tone of why on earth would you do that! This isn’t a dig at that person. Unfortunately, childbirth has long been used as the benchmark for pain and don’t get me wrong - birth can be intense, but it’s also physiological and our bodies have incredible ways of working with labour, when we understand what’s happening.

Conversations like these though can have a huge impact on how women feel about birth. They shape expectations and can leave people doubting whether they’ll be able to cope in labour before it’s even begun!

Hypnobirthing gives you the knowledge to understand your options, trust your body, and go into birth knowing that unbearable pain isn’t the only story. Please know there are lots of options to explore and these are exactly the kinds of conversations we have in my hypnobirthing courses.

But just to be clear if an epidural is the right choice for you, amazing.

And if birthing without one is the right choice for you, amazing.

We should be supporting each other’s choices and the most important thing is that you felt informed and able to make the decisions that were right for you. 🫶

Imagine though if the response to that person had simply just been - how did you find your birth? No judgement, just curiosity and space for someone to share their experience.

What do you think? Have you noticed this too? šŸ¤
