What a first afternoon at the National Funeral Exhibition. So exhilarating to see so many wonderful Celebrants that I'm lucky enough to know and regard as colleagues and friends, as well as funeral directors and amazing suppliers

Some kinda proud when the boy chooses his Egyptian outfit as "a dog that's in your world Mumma".... So although I don't perform mummification, I love that he's interested in the work I do and as an 8 year old, is comfortable with talking about death and dying 💜

Even though we can't see love, we know it is always with us, whether that person is with you or passed away. They are always part of you, your history, your present and your future as you continue to talk about them, and feel the influence of their love.

In a day where there has been sun, rain, hail and thunder, I delivered a service at Wealden Crematorium, where nature is all around you and the reflection pool is seen by all in the chapel, through the floor to ceiling windows 😍

💐 Today we have said goodbye to a much loved person, and returned his body to the earth, whilst surrounded by all that nature can give us

🎶 We listened to 6 pieces of music, all that told a story about this person's life. You don't have to be limited in the songs you can play!

👨‍👨‍👧‍👧 Close family gathered to support each other, an intimate group to show their love and give comfort.

A really powerful service in a beautiful place for a treasured man 💜

When technical glitches loose you hours and cause you stress... It's not how I wanted to spend my afternoon, but the support staff still saw that I can build a good relationship, be kind and mindful that it's not their fault.

Very appreciative that I can then come and walk in the woods to unwind a little!

A busy day talking about funeral choices and how special Celebration of Life events can be, as well as promoting Dying Matters Awareness Week - encouraging people to start that conversation. Thanks to Kate at and Alyson at for welcoming me 💜

Lots of aspects go into planning and delivering a service, some of it seen, some of it not.

When preparing for a burial, being outside can bring different considerations....

💨 Weights stuck on sheets, in between my script, ensuring that the plastic wallet pages don't flutter about of a breeze picks up

🌿 Soil, sand or petals can be thrown into the grave, but the beautiful scent of Rosemary, the herb of rembrance, can be gathered for this part of the ceremony. As our loved ones memory stays with us after the ceremony, so can the scent of rosemary, as we will always remember them 💜
