"AIDS 2026 in Rio de Janeiro has come to an end, but its key messages will continue to shape our work. Over the past week, the International AIDS Conference brought together researchers, healthcare professionals, advocates, communities, and organizations from around the world to share the latest science, exchange ideas, and shape the future of the global HIV response.
One of the key focuses at the AHF booth was the global campaign 'Syphilis Is Serious: It's Curable. Get Tested.'—raising awareness about the growing syphilis epidemic while reinforcing the importance of HIV prevention and care.
We're proud that AHF Europe Bureau was represented by Daniel Reijer, Bureau Chief, and that an abstract from AHF Ukraine was accepted and presented at AIDS 2026.
Key takeaways from AIDS 2026:
• Communities are not hard to reach. Services need to become easier to access, more visible, and more relevant.
• One size doesn't fit all. Whether it’s HIV self-testing, oral PrEP, long-acting PrEP, condoms, or s*xual health screening, everyone should have access to the prevention option that works best for them.
While not everyone was in Rio, every country across AHF Europe Bureau is part of the same mission—expanding access to prevention, testing, treatment, and compassionate care for everyone, everywhere. ❤️
