Lisa's Psychotherapy Space

Lisa's Psychotherapy Space I'm Lisa, an NCPS Accredited Psychotherapist and Hypnotherapist based in Leamington Spa. Together we can work through what you are facing now.

I provide a warm, non-judgemental space to help you feel calm, in control and build confidence and self esteem. I provide a warm, safe and non-judgemental space for you to talk openly and freely as you wish, regardless of background or orientation. I am pluralistic in my approach and I work with a wide range of mental health issues, from generalised anxiety to relationship problems. Whether you ar

e struggling with panic attacks or you are battling with low self esteem, I want to help you. Together we can explore the issue and find ways, that can help you move forward. To start your therapy journey with me, please email me. Kindly provide me with your details and a brief outline of what you are seeking and we can take it from there! I offer a free 20 minute introductory call for all new clients. What Type of Counsellor am I? My clients often say I make talking therapy feel easy, because they are comfortably able to share what is on their mind. Being a Pluralistic psychotherapist and hypnotherapist, means I work with all the therapy modalities and tailor therapy to you. I am not restricted in the techniques I can use in my client work. If you are coming to work on a specific goal, we can do that. If you need somewhere to offload and feel heard, I provide that space and time. If you don't know what you want to work on, but just feel lost, stuck, anxious or numb, we can explore this together to uncover what is going on for you. I am very much client led, so you are in charge of what is discussed in sessions. I sometimes set homework between sessions for reflection and provide knowledge, techniques and tools to empower you. What to expect in your first session? Sessions are relaxed and conversational. There is no pressure and the space is there to just talk. We can get to know to each other and see if we are the right fit. The first session is about information gathering for me, so I can understand what you need and want from therapy and how I can help you. But essentially its the first point for you to say what you are feeling. How many sessions should I have? There is no time limit on therapy with me. I offer short term and long term therapy, weekly or fortnightly sessions. It very much depends on your preference and the issue you would like to work on. For therapy to have an impact, the recommended minimum number of sessions is between 6-8, normally on a weekly basis. However, I have many clients who come on a longer term basis for exploring deeper rooted issues. This can be agreed in the first session but also, can be discussed at check in points along the way. There is no wrong or right way. What can I help with? I work with a wide range of mental health issues. Here are just a few examples; Generalised Anxiety disorder, Panic, Depression, Bereavement, Grief, Loss, Relationship problems, Motivation and many more. Some people can feel 'stuck' or 'lost' in their current situation and not able to pinpoint what the issue is. If this sounds like you, I can help and assist you to uncover the answers. I believe every individual is their own expert and with the right support, everyone has the ability to change or work through issues they have, whether they are in the past, present or future. Finding the right therapist, is so important. Building a relationship with your therapist is the key to the success of counselling and for therapy to make a difference. Starting therapy can be a daunting prospect, but I can make that step feel less difficult. Whatever the issue you are facing right now, I want to help you.

Perfectionism isn’t helping you succeed as much as you think it is. Perfectionism often isn’t about excellence, it’s about protection.

Protection from failure, criticism, rejection, or not feeling good enough.

The irony is that the more we chase perfection, the harder it becomes to feel satisfied with ourselves.

It’s going to be a hot one this week ☀️🥵

This Mental Health Awareness Week, I want to gently remind people that struggling does not mean you are failing.

So many people carry anxiety, shame, overwhelm, intrusive thoughts, grief, loneliness, or emotional exhaustion silently, whilst still trying to appear “fine” to the outside world.

One of the things I see most often in therapy is how many people believe they should be able to cope alone. But healing is not about never struggling. It is about having space to understand yourself with compassion instead of criticism.

Anxiety is not the enemy.
Often, it is a mind and body trying to protect you in the only way it knows how.

You do not have to earn support by “getting bad enough.”
You are allowed to seek support simply because things feel hard.

This week is about awareness, but also humanity, connection, and reminding people that they do not have to carry everything alone.

Quote of the month in my therapy room “The only normal people are the ones you don’t know very well.”

Read that again….

Because most people are comparing their inner world to someone else’s highlight reel.

The thoughts you don’t say out loud.
The feelings you try to push away.
The parts of you that feel “too much” or “not right”…They’re more common than you think.

Therapy can be a space where you don’t have to hide those parts anymore. You can understand them and learn to communicate with them with compassion.

Over time “abnormal” starts to make sense.
And shame begins to loosen its grip.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re the only one who thinks or feels a certain way this might be for you.
You were never the only one.

POCD is one of the most misunderstood forms of OCD.

It is not about desire or intent. It is about intrusive, unwanted thoughts that cause deep distress.

Shame keeps people silent. Education helps people get the support they need.

Therapy doesn’t begin and end in the room.

There’s a whole layer of care clients don’t always see:
The thinking, the reflecting, the remembering.

You’re not forgotten between sessions.
You’re held in my mind 🩶

Why have hypnotherapy? What does it do? These are some of the questions my clients often ask in talking therapy sessions, so I thought I would share some knowledge about it….

Favourite quote of the month ⬇️ from the great Carl Jung!

I see this play out in my practice all the time.

Have you ever said any of these phrases -
“Why does this always happen to me?”
“I keep ending up in the same situation.”
“I don’t know why I react like this.”

That’s not bad luck or fate. That’s the unconscious at work.

The beliefs you learned early on.
The roles you had to take on or adapt into to survive.
The feelings you had to push down.
The script that developed a long time ago, that you didn’t know you had written.

This stuff doesn’t disappear—it just goes into a reservoir or a deep buried part of us and it quietly runs the show.

Therapy isn’t about “fixing” you.
It’s about helping you see what’s been driving things behind the scenes. Helping you to re-write the script.

Because once you become aware of it, you can choose to start changing it.

A very valid question, I often get asked by new clients in my psychotherapy private practice. It’s not always what you might think……🌱🌸⬇️
