Story Havens

Story Havens Where stories awaken the soul, ignite transformation, and honour every voice.

At Story Havens, we blend the ancient art of storytelling with sensory experiences, support for engagement in culture and education. Commingled is a socially-driven enterprise committed to enhancing community wellbeing and education through arts-based activities, consultation and support. Our mission is to foster inclusivity within the arts, heritage and tourism sectors, to reduce social isolatio

n and empower vulnerable and marginalised groups by providing transformative arts experiences that brings all people together. With a focus on community engagement and empowerment, Commingled seeks to create a positive impact on the lives of individuals across Dumfries and Galloway. It will extend its impact by working not only with individuals from diverse backgrounds but by working with children and families, introducing innovative and unique activities linked to the local area. Additionally, the company aims to contribute to the regions status as an inclusive tourism destination by developing accessible heritage tours and unique roleplay gaming experiences.

Finally getting the opportunity to sit down and enjoy this August issue of Dumfries & Galloway Life magazine. Amongst my favourite monthly piece by Kathleen Cronie, this issue is jam packed full of great things happening around the region and ideas for the summer.
Also super excited to be featured alongside the amazing other female creative leaders in Tabitha Mudaliar column which diacusses the fabulous Leaders Unlimited programme.
And not forgetting, the feature on M A E V E - I love her make up tips and definitely something I'd love to see more of 😀
Fellow Leader and I were delighted to attend Maeve's 10 year anniversary charity ball. What a great night for an amazing charity!
We won't mention the crazy price we bid on an afternoon tea - but as the magazine shows - we love an afternoon tea in D&G!

Some serious nostalgia was felt when exploring the opening of the Jupiter Artland exhibition Growing Pains by artist Lindsey Mendick today.
These ceramic sculptures are so detailed even down to each Bacardi bottle top!

I wanted to whip out a pen and start writing monologues and poems about my own experiences.

Definitely get along if you can!

Earlier this week, Heather met Raymond from Community Enterprise Scotland.
Raymond travelled to Dalbeattie to share ways in which they are able to support us in these early start-up stages.
Anyone who knows Heather will know that she comes with a million and one ideas. But, how to organise those into a now, next and for the future?
We are grateful to have been accepted onto the Accelerate programme which can be found

Thanks also goes to the .scot for putting us in touch with Community Enterprise.

Just what is a social enterprise?

This was a question we asked at the start of the journey. It's something Heather has been exploring, learning more about, and considering for almost 2 years!
It's been about finding the right model, the right people, and the right time and were hopeful that we are almost there.

🌼 Where has the time gone?
Sorry for the lack of posts recently but there's been a lot going on behind the scenes.

Working through a lot of information and figuring out the best way forward so Story Havens can not only thrive but support as many people as possible. There is a lot to think about and no decisions are being made lightly.
So grateful for all of the advice and support received so far on this journey from South of Scotland Enterprise Third Sector DG Social Enterprise Scotland and not to mention all of the support from friends, family and potential partners of the future!

As soon as there's any further updates we will let you know. In the meantime, we've managed to squeeze in a couple of events for next month.

Thanks for sticking with us! 💖

This is fantastic!
