R&R Cancer Support Group

R&R Cancer Support Group Friendly & Supportive Cancer Group. We are a group made up of men and women who have all been diagnosed with Cancer.

We offer support, advice and friendship to help both the sufferer and their family & friends. The group work together to help each other through tough times, post treatment issues and aim to support each other with experiences of our own journeys. FUNDRAISING is an important part of our groups focus; giving back to the hospitals & medical staff who have helped us deal with and fight Cancer. Please

I am saddened to say in the past 6 days we have lost 2 fantastic women from our group. Sarah was passionate about raising money & wanted to give something back the the hospital that cared for her during her journey. Yvonne was the driving force of the group for over 4 years before we joined together & branched out to welome all types of cancer. She cared so much about others & always knew just the right thing to say. Both will be missed enormously by all of us. Rest easy ladies till we meet again ###

Hello all! Sorry we have been quiet lately but it's been a very busy time for members of our group ranging from treatment for some to a Stork delivery for another! We are still meeting fortnightly on a Thursday but enjoying the warmer weather that we have been lucky enough to have had & meeting for coffee/tea outside of our usual venue. As we are getting into warmer weather we are going to organise some day trips & activities to get us out & about in the sunshine & freah air. On Friday 17th March at 9.30 am a lovely lady called Lucy from Citizens advice has volunteered to do a drop in advice session at St Mary's Hospice Ulverston . If you or a family member needs some help with what financial support you are entitled to during cancer treatment Lucy may be able to help you. Financial difficulties are a common worry during treatment. Please comment below if you are interested or pm us so we can estimate numbers .Thankyou x

Lynne Johnson & Eleanor Dean are shaving their heads to raise funds for their friend Joanne Jagger who is a member of R&R support group to help her fulfil some of her Bucket List & create memories with her husband & children. Joanne was diagnosed Terminal in November 2016 & these lovely ladies want to help her fulfil her dreams.
Monies raised this night will also go towards the group R&R that Joanne is Chairperson for to keep it up & running & available for all the current brave members and new members who can find support, friendship & advice.

Everyone Welcome.......please come & support the brave ladies shaving their heads & raise monies that will make a huge difference to many people's lives.

Our last group meeting of 2016 will be this Wednesday 21st Dec (change of day due to treatments) at Stolllers cafe, Barrow from 2- 4pm. Come and join us for a cuppa & chat and meet some fantastic people for support & friendship. 1st meeting of 2017, Thursday January 5th, Barrow Disability Centre, 2 - 4pm then fortnightly on a Thurs, All Welcome.....
