The Breathing Hub
It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to design this logo for Aimee Hartley from Breathing Room and Breathe. It is also a great honour to be one of the practitioners involved in delivering this new initiative to my local area. The Breathing Hub is not a class. It's a space - somewhere to land, to slow down, and to remember what it feels like to simply breathe.

School Breathe CIC has been awarded National Lottery Community Fund funding to bring The Breathing Hub to Monmouthshire — a free, weekly community programme launching this September. We'll gather regularly to breathe, move, create and connect. No experience needed. No referral, no charge. Just an open door and time to be with yourself and your community.

Our breath coaches bring a rich range of additional training, so every session is woven through with creativity and specialist movement practice. Alongside breathwork, sessions may draw on:

Qi Gong, Pilates, Yoga, Visual Art, Drama, Singing/Voice and Journalling

Each block of sessions has its own flavour - weaving breathwork with movement, creativity and rest in ways that build gently over time. Full details will be shared closer to launch. You are welcome to join at any point.

Breathwork that belongs to everyone

School Breathe have always believed that breathwork is not a luxury - it is a life skill. For years they have been bringing that philosophy into schools, working with children and young people to build real tools for calm, connection and resilience.

The Breathing Hub is us taking that same ethos out into the wider community. The same warmth, the same accessibility, the same belief that when people feel better in their bodies, everything else shifts - now open to everyone in Monmouth, every week, for free.

I came across an ancient version of the yin and yang symbol many years ago when I was working on a video project and looking into ancient symbolism. I filed this image wondering what to do with it. I contemplated having a tattoo, but that was a toss up between this and the tree of life. I don’t have any tattoos and I can always find better things to spend money on (silent disco headphones, ebike, psychedlic brainwave entrainment equipment).

When I was looking for a symbol to work with the Inspiral Flowstate brand I dropped this in and it worked perfectly. So I printed a couple of black on black tshirts for myself which I wear for my flowstate sessions. Someone commented that they would like to buy one so I made them available from a couple of print on demand stores.

I had also shelved an idea for a name for a t-shirt brand, The Tee Ching, a play on the Tao Te Ching and also the I-Ching. I love how it infers the teaching too!

So it all seemed to drop into place so easily, which is the way I like it. Like water, Flow, don’t force it.

The UK based store is Tee Mill (more ethical - less colours available) and the other store which I set up first before I realised I could set up a UK based one is with Printify (more colours available).

I'm really excited to be co-hosting this retreat again this year. Last year was incredible: a beautiful weekend of connection and transformation....
*///Pause.Connect.Flow* 27th-28th June 2026 | The Pludds Village hall, Ruardean, GL17 9UQ
2 days of self-discovery & creative flow
PAUSE: Be still. Be present.
CONNECT: With nature and with who you truly are.
FLOW: Embrace your inner child, express yourself playfully.
We live in a world that constantly pulls us outward into noise, into fear, into a story of lack, but everything we think we need, everything we are striving for, we already have. And it isn’t something "out there", it's within us. It's always been there. We've just forgotten how to access it.
Join Aileen, Andy & Kate as we weave together some empowering practices including qi gong, breathwork, yoga nidra, meditation, mindful nature connection coupled with plenty of opportunities for creative expression for a 2 day journey of self discovery.

At the end of 2025, I was invited by Henry McGrath to take part in a film he was directing. Stepping onto set and finding myself on the other side of the camera was both fascinating and unexpectedly grounding.

A connection I made that day lead to me being interviewed for this podcast.

In this podcast, I share how breathwork, Qi Gong and embodied practice transformed my creative focus — and how it can support other creatives.

At the end of 2025 from Solstice through to the first weeks of 2026 I began working on some music. I was torn between creating new tracks to play when I DJ and making some new music for my breathwork sessions. 2 collections emerged from this creative flowstate, with each project informing the other.

Inspiral Breath is a breathwork journey in 4 parts over 1 hr. 3 rounds of 4/4 breathing with breath retentions and the final round increasing in speeding up and intensifying. The sequence begins with 2 minute drone designed to chant and tone before you begin the breathwork session.

Breathe in through the nose deep into the abdomen (feel the belly rise) and out through the mouth, tightening your lips to control the out-breath to match the rhythm of the music. There isn’t any guidance on these tracks just counting and prompts for the retentions. The holds are approx. 2 mins so feel free to take sips of air and return to the hold when you need to and feel free to breathe in through the mouth as the tempo increases.

Aligned with True True is the companion album, some of the tracks here gave birth to the Inspiral Breath album, but on this collection the music is designed to get your feet moving, I am planning to share these in an ecstatic dance context following a breathwork journey (watch this space).

Here is a response from Cassie after I shared the Inspiral Breath music in a class:

Thank you for a profound experience Andy, it really is a gift. I can hear the love that went into making your music. No doubt this breathwork is helping me to heal. I find that having the opportunity to briefly chat about my experience afterwards, to be witnessed, is so valuable, when I have a powerful one like tonight, thank you folks. It reminds me that simply being open hearted, face to face and energetically present can be utterly beautiful. Full of gratitude.
