We are delighted to announce that Lily has successfully completed her mentoring period and is now qualified to respond independently. The mentoring process, a crucial component of our training program with East Midlands Ambulance Service, enables new first responders to hone their skills under the guidance of an experienced mentor. The duration of mentoring varies among responders, but upon completion, they are equipped with their own equipment and permitted to respond solo while on duty.

Unfortunately due to the weather conditions we have taken the decision to postpone today’s CPR and defib awareness in Darley Park. We will be in touch with Derby City Council to re-arrange in the near future. Thank you for your understanding

Today, Richard, one of our newer responders, joined a training course with East Midlands Ambulance Service to expand his skills. This will allow Richard to attend a more calls. All of our responders have the opportunity to expand their skills after around 12 months responding which gives us the ability to provide a wider service to the local community.

The sweltering heat of July has kept our scheme extremely busy, with our dedicated team providing a remarkable 189 hours on duty and responding to 44 calls across the city. From emergency situations to life-threatening incidents, we were the first point of contact in an impressive 63% of all our calls, providing critical care and support when it mattered most. Our calls included a number of Goodsam responses, where our responders sprang into action to provide vital assistance to their neighbours. We're proud to have played a crucial role in saving lives, including several cardiac arrests where our prompt response made all the difference. Our commitment to the community is unwavering, and we're dedicated to continuing our life-saving work throughout the year.
